Got to love LA.....

Was driving on the 60 going to Montebello. When a truck decided to lose some weight and something flew off from the back. Needless to say it took out a splitter. Was going to get another set anyways. Just didn't plan to get them this early. Going to fix it with some 3M double sided tape and some screws. Anyone know where to get these installed on the cheap? Going to buy the CF splitters off eBay so probably a 2 week wait or so.

If something flew off the back of a truck on the highway and hit you and all it took out was a spiltter you're still ahead of the game trust me, could of been a lot worse.

This!

I try to avoid being by trucks with crap or trailers, etc. Especially after a close call being sandwiched between 3 of them

Got my splitters installed a while back at M0dbargains in La Habra for around $60. Bought mine off on eBay and the fitment sucked so I had to fill the gaps with black epoxy which worked out pretty well. Now its been beat up so I recently bought another set from a different HK seller but haven't had the time to install them yet. Hopefully these fit better than my last.

Actually it's a bit worse. Notice this in the morning. Going to call my insurance and see what they say. If they won't fix it, is there something I can do to touch this up?

Anywhere local that charges about $150 or so for CF splitters is SoCal/Los Angeles area? Want to get this fixed ASAP. Plus now I have to deal with that bumper issue. LTMW also charges $60. I would do it myself but I hear about fitment issues. Have a little OCD when it comes to my car.

Did anyone have to pay customs for their eBay splitters?

From the pictures it doesn't look too extensive...not sure what I am missing. This is something you could install yourself.

I was behind a truck on the 101 last year that threw off... *something.* Couldn't tell what it was, it was moving fast... but it was big, solid, and heavy. Couldn't avoid it, it went under my car and hit with a BANG that clearly said "fuck you Bimmer." Tore up the plastic underbody shielding, took a chunk out of one of my wheels, and snapped a control arm!

Had to fight with the insurance company -- the adjuster initially concluded I "struck a stationary object" and was thus at fault. That thing was anything but stationary. They changed the finding after I bitched.

I'm guessing you had to pay a deductible. Not sure it's worth since it's a $1K for me.

Thanks. I guess it's one of those things you experience living in LA.

Not extensive. But I most likely have to repaint the bumper. Buy new splitters and install. And that's money out of my pocket.

That's just unfathomable, I would write a formal letter and hand deliver it to the governors office and state how unacceptable that is.

Is this going to be a San Diego incident? Dirty old man harrasses female Bimmer owner. I can see the headline. Governor Brown sexting Bimmer owner over rim job.

My deductible is $300 and they waived it for me. $1k deductible = yup do it yourself.
