335i My Cats Are Farked!
Had the good people at the BMW repair shop look at my rattling exhaust today, they took off the downstream cat and found it had sh*t itself!
Don't really know how they work but it's interesting to see the smashed up material, looks like rocks lol... Getting a new cat, lucky I don't have to pay for it

Free exhaust mod. Most people have to spend a lot of time gutting a cat. Especially that type. Those are the worst.

I'd love to have no / empty cats but won't that trigger a CEL?

There's plenty of ways around it. Depends on what your goals/wants are

Ask if you can have your "defective parts returned to you" and take the old one for gutting (not something I endorse, but is apparently popular).
It's pretty common to ask for old parts as proof of repair, though I'm not sure if warranty coverage will change that - they might need to send them to BMW or something. Then you can have a gutted and brand new set of OE cats and pipes. |

Hmm interesting, the guy said there was another guy doing DP and all that, going to cost him around $4k NZD (like $2k USD)...
But yea I'm getting them replaced free by the dealer but they're expensive as t*ts! Like $2k each lol... I said can I just leave them out but got the feeling it'd be a hassle. I'd so do it though if I knew i'd have no problems with the CEL.
