Full Tune Up

I'm approaching 85000 miles on my 328xi and am considering doing a full tune up a little early. I know sparks and filters should all get changed anything else?

Brake, power steering and radiator fluids never hurt to change. Add these to your Tune up list if you can...

Coils. Engine oil. Alignment. Check your bushings struts etc. look for leaks around the engine. Common gaskets are oil filter housing and valve cover. Probably get a clean with some Techron fuel cleaner. Never tried it myself but some here say it works.

I did a coolant flush for piece of mind.
Are you planning on a DIY with this tune up or take it to mechanic?

I bolded/underlined the suggestions that I agree with. Radiator? Never heard of anyone having any problems with their radiator. O2 sensors and coils I would replace when they throw a code. Fuel filter is integrated with the fuel pump and is a $200 part. I have not heard of anyone having problems with their fuel pump (besides 335 owners). Waterpump/Thermostat maybe, however there is a poll on here where they can last over 120,000 miles.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

I don't think it was a smart ass comment to suggest reading the manufacturer's literature about service and maintenance information, but:

100,000 Miles:

Spark Plugs
Engine air filter
coolant change
transmission oil/fluid change
front and/or rear differential gear oil change
Inspect wiper blades and replace if necessary
Engine oil change if called for by CBS
Replace cabin air filter if CBS calls for it
Flush brake fluid if called for by the CBS (2-year intervals)
Chassis inspection - lube locks, hinges, door weather seals
Check for wheel bearing play
Check for torn CV joint boots
Check for leaking shocks
Check for missing/broken chassis components

Flush power steering fluid if you want (not a required maintenance item)

Efthreeoh,

For a brake fluid change, how many ounces of new fluid do you need? I can't find the correct amount in the bentley manual...

This. Which reminds me I need to work on the below:

coolant change
transmission oil/fluid change
front and/or rear differential gear oil change

Courious how much the stealership would charge me for something like this...

If you do it correctly and don't let air get in the system through the master cylinder you only need a 32 ounce bottle, and you'll have plenty left over. If you are doing a bleed for the first time, get a 32 ounce bottle and a 16 ounce bottle to be on the safe side. Keep the 16 ounce bottle unopened and it will be good for the next change two years from now.
