Brake Dust

I'm sure it's been asked a thousand times but I can't find anything concrete.....

What do you do to prevent brake dust build up?
I am forever cleaning my wheels. It's not unheard of for me to give them a quick wipe over when I get to work and park up and again when I get home!
Yeh, that's maybe a little OCD but I'm sure I'm not the only one!

I currently have MV3's which are a bit of an ass to keep wiping over but I know I'd be the same whatever the wheel.....

You get low dust brake pads(after market type) or supaguard wheel treatment is good.stops the dust getting a hold of the wheel surface!

I don't seem to suffer with much brake dust to be honest... Either your a heavy braker or I don't use mine!

I guess it depends what kind of driving you do though.... Also auto or manual makes a difference.

Mine are terrible for brake dust.

Infant worse I have ever had. Must be poor quality pads I guess. Although it has only ever been to bmw stealer for all works.

And this is the least I have used my brakes ever as it's not fast enough ha.

Interested in people's opinions too.

Might as well paint them ferric grey for the colour they go.

Had my mv3's powder coated with a flash chrome over gunmetal finish which gives a diamond cut effect and doesn't show up the brake dust as much.
But I'm the same as you, I'm constantly wiping my wheels clean.

Brake dust, like ear wax, happens. You can clean either away, you can let either build up. You can't stop them unless you don't brake or don't live. You are in control of the extent to which you do both those things.

All the best and good luck.

i switched to Hawk HPS pads, which eliminated the dust output almost completely.

Use Poorboys wheel sealant. Can't change the amount of dust produced, obviously, but it just rinses off.

If you want to change the dust output, you can get different pads (my Hawks are practically dustless)

I mean "Poorboys Wheel Sealant can't change the amount of dust produced" but if you use it then the dust just rinses off.
