N52 ticking noise resolved?

Hello guys, Im in the market for a second hand 328i and I found a devastating problem with the valve lifters that would prevent me from getting one.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...postcount=1310

Was there a recall for this so i can be sure that most of them were fixed? how serious is this issue?

Thanks in advance

Look at the sticky on top of this forum page. Over 2300 posts of information. Its not catastrophic and if you are really concerned, dont buy anything before build date 2009. Thousands of these driving around and no major failures that I have seen posted about? No recall for this.

Yes, old issue should be fixed with 2010 model. I sold my 2007 for this reason since BMW wouldn't fix it although there is a TSB.

it's not a big issue. The N52 is a reliable engine.

You've made your point, my wording wasn't the best.

It's just a noise. It seems to have no other effect than irate the owner.

I have found that you can quiet it considerable with some liquid moly MoS2 engine oil additive.
