What is this called and what purpose does it serve?

Sup guys,

Can someone tell me what is this called and what purpose does it serve? It seems to be hanging off the driver side under carriage right in front of the rear wheel.

Thanks in advance

It's more for aerodynamics
Forces the air at highway speeds to go around the tire

It's an air deflector. Mine's lose and hanging too, but on the passenger side. It's actually annoying because my exhaust causes it to make a loud vibration sometimes.

Air deflector. Aids with aero and brake cooling. Just pick up some new clips and snap it back in place.

Yep like above, just get a couple new plastic clips and stick it back onto the car - something probably hit it on the highway and pulled it down and the clips fell out.

Yours looks to be broken; probably why it is hanging down.

It's P/N 51717116911 Item 5 in the drawing below

The fasteners are P/N 51161881149, 07147122912 and 07147122913 2 each Items 4, 19 and 20

Total for everything is around $10.

Some people who don't know how to properly change their oil call me an "A-hole" but what the heck....

I hope you get it repaired. It's hard to tell from the pick if it is actually broken. There is a plastic rivet that hold the back end of it up and maybe that's what came undone. But for the cost of the part it's worth just buying a new one to be sure.

Good luck.
