N55 HPFP FAILED 13,000 miles - UPDATE WITH NEW PROBLEMS

N55 owner checking in.

I began having a fluctuating idle at startup as well as an occasional long crank in the mornings. Took the car in today and the HPFP needs to be replaced. I never received any in dash "reduced power" or "service engine soon" notifications but my service adviser said it could go at any time.

The car is a 2011 with 13,000 miles on it. I know n55 HPFP issues are few an far between but they still exist and are unpredictable. Hoping that this replacement lasts me the life of my car but I cant help but think I'll be back here again in 2 years when my warranty is up.

happy friday

UPDATE:

I got my car back after the dealer replaced the HPFP and completely recoded the car. Drove around for a bit and got three error messages. "DBC malfunction, DSC malfunction, and brake assistance." Currently sitting at the dealer again waiting for a diagnosis.

MY N55 failed at 30,000 miles as well. I didn't get any notifications on the dash- the car worked fine. I used to get long cranks during cold starts, which prompted me to take it to the dealer.

+1 I realize it is a high performing machine but still. If it was 130,000 miles I'd be completely okay with it

My car also gets really long cranks sometimes, to the point where I have to turn off the car, and start it again.. everything else is fine, idle is steady.. could it be hpfp on n54

I get major flucuating idle often...I blip the throttle to stop it. I even get it when just parked/idling. I figured it was my Procede...but it does it when in the stock map also.

I am removing Procede this weekend and already sold the car....so.....

Mine is going in soon for what will be its third pump. I get an occasional weird idle and long crank. Nothing terrible yet but I want it addressed before I am on the side of the road.

My car does that oscillating idle after sitting for a few hours after being driven. Never does it with a stone cold engine or with a warm engine. I doubt it's the fuel pump. Never had any long cranks though.

On my 2011 E92, the HPFP went at around 4,000 miles. The symptom was long cranks.

My N55 is at 30,000 and has begun intermittent long cranks, but only when warm and after standing. Starts fine when cold. No idling issues. Is intermittent long cranks also an indicator of pending fuel pump failure?

My 2008 335xi never had any issues with the original HPFP... but i was still forced to replace it as part of the recall in 2011 @ 25k miles. I'm at 77k miles now and still no issues to date. I've only used costco gas in Edison, NJ (with the additional additives) no e85 mixing... just using the standard 93 octane e10 pump gas.

+1 (Knock on wood) but I bought my car with 29k and now have 43k on the clock, always shell v-power 93 and the occasional mild e85 mix (2.5-4.5 gallons) and I havn't had one problem with my car.. My hpfp was replaced by the previous owner because of the recall but thats it and my car runs strong however I do as much preventative maintenance as possible
