Best Spark plugs for 2009 E92?
Last week Friday I took my car to the dealership because anytime i would push the car to accelerate limp mode would come on. Basically they told me that the vacuum hoses for the turbos needed to be changed as well as the vanos solenoids. Ok so they have had my car for a weekend and the extended warranty has taken care of most of it. Today they told me that the repairs were done but when they test drove it it was "missing" so they put it on the computer and they see that it needs new spark plus and fuel injector. Warranty is taking care of the injector but i have to buy the spark plugs.
So my question is what are the best kind of spark plugs for my e92? someone told me BOSCH? Best value for money? |

OEM just means original equipment manufacturer aka stock parts. You can go to any auto store and they'll be able to look them up or you can buy them online. They're Bosch brand for our cars

OEM is pretty universal in all car communities.

Just get the bosch's. If you search people have used NGK Iridium as well as some other brands and at the end of the day people just go back to the bosch's which is what BMW uses as an OEM part.
I did mine the other week and plugs cost like $67 total from autohausaz. At the dealer it is $22 each. wtf.

Want to find out about why he was running the NGK's as opposed to OEM Bosch, because if he's not making enough power to support the colder plug... then it might be hurting performance.

You should also ask your installer to keep the old plugs in the boxes that came with the new plugs (Have them mark it for which cyl each came from). It's always a good thing to see how the spark plugs are wearing (you would never reuse these plugs but it's always a good idea to keep them around for a while for shit's and giggles). I've also heard that the correct procedure is NOT to put anti-seize lube on the plugs because it messes with the torque specs. It's also common for the Coils to break when doing spark plugs... so be prepared to replace them as needed (probably about $40/coil). |
