Anyone install a Hitch for a motocross bike??
Hi I’m wondering if anyone here have a trailer hitch on their E90? More specifically one where the tongue weight can exceed the 200lbs limit that I have been finding all over the place. What i need for my application is a tongue load limit of at least 300lbs
Such as this one bellow http://www.hitchweb.com/product/88/6...BMW-328I-328XI what I plan on doing is installing a motocross bike rack that will fit into the trailer hitch do you think this would be possible and not bottom out the car? The weight of the mount is around 50lbs and the bike weighing in at 250lbs full of gas. I think the suspension should be able to handle the load I already had two guys sit in the back that are 200lbs+ and the car drove fine with no issues. And mainly if I do decide to use a tow hook that's rated for tongue weight of 200lbs is there anyway I might be able to brace it the frame even more such as drilling more holes for the bolts or using larger bolts... Welding it to the frame? Are there any issues I should worry about? My car is a 2007 328i sedan w/o sport package Last edited by scorppion; 07-23-2013 at 09:04 PM.. |

I have a vertical hitch on my car. I dont motorcross but mountain bike and it holds my bike hitch perfectly fine. I lock the front wheel so nothing can scratch the car.

I wouldn't put that much weight on the hitch. Keep in mind that the further away the bike is from the hitch, the greater leverage it is exerting on the frame. I would get a trailer.
