Car starts but wont unlock

Hey guys so today i reqliazed something was wrong when it wouldnt unlock or lock. It unlocks and locks when i click the button in the car but when using the key to unlock/lock/open trunk it wont work starting the car with key in my pocket as well in the slot is still fine. Can somebody tell me whats wrong? Thanks!

edit: i replaced the battery and still not luck. i tested out the battery in the key and found that its working fine. must be something to do with the key? when i have the key in my pocket i can still start the car i just cant use it to unlock or lock i have to manually unlock and lock the car. thanks guys

edit: sorry for the edit but i found out that having the key in my pocket doesnt actually work. i can actually start the car with the key in my pocket. i have to actually stick it in the slot. does this mean i need a reprogram or anything? i dont have a spare key so i cant make sure that it is the key that is the problem. thanks for all the reply really helpful info!

If you have Comfort Access, replace the keyfob batteries and see if that fixes the problem. The other day I was having a hard time unlocking/locking the car with the keyfob which was fixed with a new set of batteries.

hey i got a chance to change my batteries but still no luck. did you have to reprogram your key? when i stick it in the slot it connects to the car and starts and everything just no luck in unlocking and locking as well opening the trunk.

Hi guys, yesterday I tried to open my BMW335I door and it wont unlock. took out the key and manually open the driver door. But I cannot unlock the other doors. This is a major safety concern. What if the car has a fire and if i have passengers at the rear and front passenger seat, they cannot get out cos the door auto lock and there is no manual open button? Besides the fuse and actuator issues I read in this forum I think BMW will have to address the bigger potential liability concern. Is there an open class action over this issue?

I had the same issue with being unable to unlock doors. Dealership replaced fuses first but it didn't work and ended up replacing both front door latches under warranty. fault A6D4 and A6D5 found.

You need to check your fuses behind your glove box, fuse layout should be attached to the glove box fuse access door.

You need to replace the central locking actuator (something like that) it happened to my sister, she got it fixed under warranty
