Just purchased a E91... Need some help.

Hey guys whats going on? I recently just purchased a 2006 xiT for my DD.

Black/Black 6-speed (Pictures to come once it arrived-- being shipped at the moment)

I have a few questions... I have done some research, but without much luck as to a solid direction to take. Being a 2006 and xi model also I am unsure if there are any major differences between 07+ and non-xi models when it comes to suspension.

My questions... What would be a recommendation for a cheap(er) set of coilovers or lowering springs compatible with this wagon? I dont want to slam it, but I do want a nice low flush look.

That brings me to my next question... I would actually prefer to run 18's (thinking VMR 710s or APEX EC-7/8) because I am wanting to know if it would be possible to run something like a 9.5" 265 square set up so that I could swap them over to my e46 M3 as well if I ever wanted to

Is there anything I need to be aware of due to the car being xi?

Thanks in advance for the help.
-Kyle

The sub boards are a good place to start

There is an xi and suspension sub board.
As well as many other useful sub boards.

My guess is you don't want to run a staggered setup on an xi the
wheels need to be the same diameter at least.

Hey welcome. I also recently picked up a 2007 e91 and except for the auto tranny, love it. The trouble with lowering the wagon much is you start hitting the bump stops even on small road imperfections - search for "pothole explosion" on this board. Mine is a sport package, which is a little lower, but even at only 54k miles, I am considering a switch to Koni FSD dampers, it is just annoying that the SP suspension isn't better than it is.

You can put E46 M3 fitment wheels on these cars, you will need spacers on the front of the E9x but wheels for the E9x have too small an offset on the fronts, and won't fit the E46.

I sold my E46 M3, and for a while was running my E46 ZCP 19" wheels on the wagon with 265s on the rear. This sorta works, but the OEM size rear M3 tires are a half inch or so too tall, and they rub on the fender liner at the top of the wheel arch on compression. The 225s in front worked fine, and the tire diameter was not a problem, but a 265 might be pushing it, especially at the M3 diameter. Of course if you lower it, it might make things worse.

With the suspension already overworked, I thought the 19s would be a bit much if I went to a 30 series on the rear to get the correct tire diameter, so I decided to go to 18s. If you do decide to try it and need spacers for the front to mount E46 M3 wheels, PM me, I have a set of Turner spacers and longer lug bolts I wouldn't mind selling, I went to E90 M3 18s on mine. Though I do think about picking up a cheap set of E46 M3 18s, I think those look good on the E91 also.

Here is my wagon with Style 260:

And here with E46 M3 ZCP:

You can clear 9.5 and 265's with ease. I have 255's and I still have room left over so I had to get 12mm spacers (although I'm dropped) I too have xi.

Thanks for the input. Yeah I think I would want to go with 18s. I have a OEM 18 square track setup for my M3 running 265/35's all around, I might just throw those on and see how they look and what spacers I would need...etc.

What suspension setup are you running?
