I just went through a 2 week debacle at my dealer over that exact same noise. I brought it in thinking it was a loose heat shield. They ended up tracing it to the transmission and brought over a rep from ZF to look it over.
The dealer and ZF concluded that it was a "normal" sound for the auto tranny and that it was within operating tolerances even though not all trannies make that noise. No-go on getting it replaced. If you bring it in and find out any additional info, please post. |

yup that is the sound of a N54 for ya. I hate the way it sounds when the A/C is running just the other day someone told me sounds like your car needs a tune up. haha

I think there's a PUMA case out for this, no?
Something about some rubber damper that can go into the tranny area to at least quiet it down- anyone confirm? |
