Rain sensor housing fell apart

I was cleaning my windshield this weekend, and I bumped the rain sensor housing around the base of the rear-view mirror, and it just fell apart. It is only held together by some fairly flimsy clips.

I got it back together, but I guess I expected it to be a bit more sturdy than that.

Anyone else have the same experience?

Yeah, the icky guts, isn't that impressive. I wouldn't want to hit it too many times because I may have to end up glueing it back together.

I am such a clutz though, it is bound to happen again during my cleaning duties...

5 years later....

Wow, sorry to open an old post. Put I just had it happen today. When my car was getting detailed, they knocked the housing apart.
I just taped it back together in a couple of barely visible areas. geez. And how much did I pay for this car?

I have had mine off for a couple of reasons. It was not knocked off. I can tell you that if it is pretty well put together when it all snaps in place. But if you do not get it together correctly for some reason it falls apart easily. And it is pretty hard to get it on there correctly so that is probably what happened. Lining up ALL of the tabs is kinda hard to do especially in that small confined space.
