2014 Audi RS 7 Price Announced - $104,900. Discuss

Probably better suited for the M6 GC section but its been awfully quiet there relative to here, so wanted to generate some discussion and get ppl's thoughts.

Personally I am disappointed Audi chose to give us Yanks the RS 7 over the RS 6 Avant, the latter would've been my top choice for sure, and judging by the general feeling on the Audi boards, most other folks' too. The RS 7 is in some tough competition (CLS 63, M6GC, Panamera), when arguably the RS 6 Avant would've just had...the nearly defunct CTS-V wagon (and perhaps an SUV like the X6 ///M for those cross shopping, but that is a different segment altogether IMO).

I've seen the car in person, not bad looking, but frankly just meh relative to other RS offerings. Simply not aggressive enough to differentiate it form the everyday S7s, body ins't 'stretched' or carry much bespoke pieces. The M6GC to me wins the beauty contest hands down.

I really wish this car does well for Audi, just so they can bring more RS offerings here. The sad part is, one of the quattro GmbH execs (the in-house 'builder' of RS products) recently stated that some Americans have been voicing their strong conviction on having an RS 'wagon', so 'we gave you one'. Sorry but to me this ain't no wagon. If sales are slow, Audi can once again claim that wagons don't sell in the US and not offer the next generation RS 6 Avant...

Anyhow, happy to see more RS cars finally come States-side. Attaching some pics from the NYIAS and the official press release

Edmunds.com quotes the weight as 4210 pounds.

This cost is more in line with what one would expect, versus the $130k+ predicted in some articles. Not sure about those wheels.

I know. However, there was speculation about the base price being significantly higher.

You want full leather at $100k+. This car doesn't have it. If they cut costs there, where else did they cut costs where you can't see. The transmission for one - 8 speed ZF automatic box as used in every BMW, Chrysler, Audi and Jag. No DCT. I'm sure I'll find more shortcuts if I look.

I find the body shape alluring, but can't get past that giant black suck-hole in the front.

I also wonder what the rear seating is like.. if I am going to buy a high performance sedan, I want four people to be able to sit in it in comfort, otherwise I'm better off with a coupe or roadster... I suspect the seating will be alot like in the CLS and M6GC however.

Forgetting about the exterior style, the packaging of the A/S/RS7 is much better than the 6GC or the Merc. Back seat room and egress is very good and the space under the hatch is massive. Rearward visibility is also very good. The 6GC is much more attractive, but the RS7 is much more practical.

i thought i'd like it more, but the lines don't do it for me. it's actually too smooth looking. from the side it looks like a Lexus IS. the exterior is not chiseled enough. it doesn't look like it's in motion when standing still.

Audi's dash material is nowhere near a plasticky as the vinyl dash on the non-full leather BMWs. It's much more tightly grained and fits with the wood or carbon trims and aluminum inserts. Where Audi uses leather on the high end and RS cars, it's stronger bull hides instead of plain old cow hides, so it's more durable while still being more supple.

Nonsense. I took my parents to look at an A7 and we all thought the interior dash plastics looked Japanese. They are hard plastics very similar to 2008-2012 Lexus products.

The only Audi with a world class interior in the current market is the A8/S8.

The A7 interior is pure McDonald's and people just assume its good because its Audi. Touch and feel it and you will see it is cheap.

Agree with Stealth. The A8/S8 is the only Audi interior I've ever sat in that doesn't feel cheap.

The issue is it doesn't have any unique body panels like our cars have. They should have widened the front and rear fenders to give it more muscle.

They should also have done the rears a bit more on the M5.

That said, I like the look of it. It's a very good looking car.

100% agree about the rears on the M5...I'm surprised I don't hear more comments on that (still perfectly happy with the car, of course).

Might be a bit harsh!

Definitely not doing anything for me either, especially the edge of the trunk/lift back area. Looks odd and unfinished...like last gen. 6-series with bangle-butt looked out of place.

Don't get it. Why pay a fortune more than S7 with no visual cues. No flared arches as in the past? Thin this will make RS7 less desirable and appealing to enthusiasts/collectors even though it will be a magnificent machine.
