Rumored Turbo info in Motortrend

BMW R&D Chief Burkhard Goeschel talks about the new range of engines that will be offered in the new LSC (BMW minivan) and probably show up in other models from BMW. The short article mentions the use of direct gasoline injection as well as turbocharging. “Goeschel says that these engines have no turbo lag, can produce 150 pount-feet of torque per liter displacement, and have fuel efficiencies that match diesels.”

So when do you guys think these engines will make their way into the e90… lineup? The evidence of turbocharging just keeps adding up…

Many posts have had this info and some think turbo will be for other markets (at least initially) while US gets 3.5L engine. Also DI will be out soon but there may be a delay in reaching the states (for many reasons listed in other posts).

I think the MT article and what others have speculated in past posts to both be correct. Turbo and DI are coming but will first be seen in Europe for years before the US gets them.

I think e90 turbo & DI will be 2007 models in Europe. US will see DI after Europe but before US sees turbo.
