Snow Tire Question
Sorry if this subject has been beaten to death. I have a 3335i with prem and cold weather pkg. The tires are allegedly rated for rain and snow. I live in Wisconsin. As this car is my daily driver, am I living in a dream world if I think I can go through a winter without dedicated snow tires? If you think I do need the snow tires, are blizzak any good. I priced some out at Tire Rack and I think I could get 4 mounted on knock-off wheels for less than $1000. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Couldn't resist. You should be OK without them if you have all-season tires on your xi, which I think you do. Blizzak (and similar) winter tires are amazing. They make packed snow feel like wet asphalt. I'd get them for Wisconsin winters if you can afford them. FWIW, I grew up in NE Iowa and lived in MN for four years, so I know what Wisconsin winters are like.

I've lived in Minnesota my whole life and drove on all-seasons for about 10 years. A few years ago I put Blizzak WS50's on my 318ti and I can't imagine ever buying an all-season tire again. Seriously.
I really think there's no other way to go (for my location) than a pure summer tire in the summer, and a winter tire in the winter. Sure, you'll probably be able to get around with all-seasons, but with such an amazing car (the 335i) why have a tire that's not really very good at anything, but plainly just acceptable. As for a brand, everyone seems to have their favorite, but any name brand winter tire will do very well. |

I agree completely. I changed from all-seasons to winter and what a big difference. Winters are so much better in snow & ice. I'll never use all-seasons again! |

Do you get 4 new rims too?
I'm curious. Do you get a spare set of rims too?
