Cleaning Tar off the front of the car?

My BMW is COVERED in tar, all over the front end and on the sides a bit. I must have driven on a road that had some major work done and not realized it.
Anyone have anything that takes this stuff off easily?

In the past I've used WD40. It works pretty well, but I'm not sure if there's something else better.

Don't use WD-40. Go to your local Auto-Zone/Pep Boys/whatever and buy some bug and tar remover and follow the instructions.

Visit the detailing forum... Should be lots of help there.

I used some Contact/Brake cleaner from Honda and it worked like a champ. Instantly got rid of a bunch of tar splatter.... FWIW

safest would be bug and tar remover from pep boys, autozone, etc. make sure you rewax the area as it will strip the wax as well.
