Grainy wax particles left..

Did the car today with the excellent Race Glaze 55, but on the hood there seems to be some minute grains of wax here and there and not the uniform glassy surface I wanted. The wax was hand applied (literally:-) )and buffed, and not done on a warm hood. What happened? Did I use too much wax or did too large an area? What's the cure, another round with a thin layer and rebuff?

No clay bar, the car is only two weeks old so I thought it unnecessary ..:-)
Too much polish then?

Age has nothing to do with it.

My brand new car had a crapload of fallout from rail dust and dealer "prep".
