E92 335i or E90 335i M-Sport? That is the question!

Hi guys,

Looking at a 335i finally...

The question is, I have 2 options...

Option A. (And test driven already)

2007 BMW 335i Coupe w/ 6SP Steptronic (Built: JAN 07)

- Black Saph w/ Dakato Black leather & Fine Grey Poplar
- iDrive w/ TV, Sunroof, Comfort Access, Lights Package
- Xenons + Adaptive
- Active Steering, PDC,
- 230 Style Alloys
- Sport Seats, Sport Sus
- Rear Blind, Extending armrest
- Phone preparation (Whatever that means)

Option B. (Not yet driven)

2008 BMW 335i Sedan M-Sport w/ 6SP Steptronic (Built: SEP 08)

- Black Saph w/ Dakato Black leather & Burl Walnut
- iDrive w/ TV, Sunroof, Comfort Access, Lights Package
- Xenons + Adaptive
- Steering w/ Paddles
- Active Steering, PDC
- M-Sport kit with those 18" alloys
- Rear Blind, Extending armrest

The sedan is newer + spec'd just as nice and it's a bit more practical, but then I love the coupe design...

But i'm looking for your opinions, what would you buy?

I'm trying to decide! I like the sedan but it IS a pre-facelift, and I don't like the non-m-sport pre-facelift sedans, dated looking now ... However I don't mind the coupes whether pre-LCI or not / m-sport or not...

I prefer the e90 sedan because I think it has beautiful proportions. Original owner of a 2007 pre-facelift model. When the LCI M-Sport models arrived, I loved it so much, I converted the front hood and bumper so it looks more aggressive, yet still elegant in a subtle way.

Here are three reasons I prefer the e90:

leaning towards e90 due to M sport... both options are auto though? weak.

Thanks for your thoughts, our limits over here are small, like 1 manual available in the whole country atm for the price! But yea sounds like maybe the 335i E90 is the better option.

Thanks for the pics yours looks great! So, how did you actually manage to get that hood? The E90 M-Sport LCI is pure beauty haha... but does the LCI hood fit non-LCI quite easily? If so that makes me even more prone to getting it then just getting a hood from the wreckers and re-painting it saphhire black!

I had the misfortune of an accident that ruined my hood and bumper. I convinced the insurance company to replace the two items with the LCI version and voila! instant new car! hahaha

If you are keen to upgrade, you might have better luck grabbing that hood from salvage and picking up the bumper the same way or on eBay primed.

Check this thread:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=811782

JGMods has a sale on LCI conversion kits:

http://www.jgmods.com/index.php/e90-...nt-bumper.html

It even has your color as the example. They will even paint it for you... for a price. I suggest you spray it yourself.

G/L with your decision! Post pics when you make your choice!

Cheers

I think the E92 has the sport suspension no matter what... M sport is just cosmetics on E92. If that helps any. probably doesn't

Wow, that is awesome! Shoot I might just have to buy the car and crash it haha.. No but thanks i'll find a LCI bumper & hood and see what I can get done.

I assume it's pretty much clips in and away you go? Thanks again everyone.

Tough choice. To help you decide easier, how important are those back seats?

Take the sedan for sure. The 230 style wheels are FTL, the sedan has M-Sport, and the sedan is newer. I like coupes better in general but between those options I'd take the sedan. P.S. you could always do the LCI conversion on the 08 tail lights.

E92

I have lemans e92 335xi fully loaded and it's a beauty. Absolutely love this car. I think it's aggressive looking and it's powerful.

If you got a family or little kids then the e90 is your best but but if your young, married with no kids or looking for a fun summer, weekend or track car. The e92 might be why you need

End of the day the choice spends on your lifestyle but looking at the two options you got the e90 seems to be better.

Hope you find what your looking for mate.

FYI

M sport is a plus so the e90 might be a better deal. So many guys here end up converting their car into a Msport and end up spending tons or money and time so if you can buy it with Msport, even better!!!

you didnt mention how many miles each one has?

given all things equal (miles, year, options), i'd pick the e92 over an e90 any day...

but in your case, i'd pick the e90 because it's one year newer (less miles likely) and has m-sport option

Sorry, forgot to mention! She's done a few, both actually:

E92 - 75,000
E90 - 73,750

Cheers for comments guys im thinking the 335i E90 is my pick! Would love to LCI the car with those rear lights & tail.

Thanks.

+1. OP, even though you're single and won't utilize the back seats too much, the m-sport alone is worth it. Between the two, I'd vote for Option B but man that's a lot of mileage for an '08.

OK, thanks, yes...

SO I drove the M-Sport yesterday, sheez it was tidy, hadn't been groomed & still looked mint.

The M-Sport is a plus, I love the black headliner etc...

Only downside to it, doesn't have the cool light strips and Logic 7 the coupe had, it only has HiFi lol but that should be OK.

Transmission felt better than the Coupe, but it idled a bit rougher (vibrated slightly)... but then again it's been on a boat for the past few months and hasn't been driven.

Anyone know what the light package on the sedan includes? The car has it in it's spec list but all I see is:

-Under-door lights
-Exterior door handle LED's (These are mint)
-2 Sets of interior roof lights,
-And miscellaneous foot well lights in front & dash ambient lights.

...no rear footwell lights like coupe etc.
