Squeak from steering column/rack
I have a small squeak/chirp come from somewhere in my steering system. It happens when I'm turning the wheel, either left or right, but always in the same place, when the steering wheel is moving past the 90 degrees mark (to the right). It is more audible outside the car, and very difficult to hear inside the car if the windows are up.
Any ideas?

Nah Its not power steering pump. There was thread while back and it happened to me also its rubber grommet between firewall separating engine compartment and inside of car where steering shaft goes through. In cold temperatures or when it dries out it can make sounds. Search and you'll find info on it. Just use some grease on it.
I could be wrong but its fairly common on 06 330's yours in kinda newer so im not sure if thats ur issue but its worth a check.

It is a squeek that comes from the rubber gromet between the firewall. All that happened is that it has dried out. It's a labour intensive job. |

I had mine replaced under warranty, so I have no idea how much it would cost.

Google it, there are youtube videos that show how you squirt some grease inside the boot to fix the squeak, if it is coming from there.
It can also come from the so called "slip-ring", that is under the steering wheel air-bag. Mine was doing it this winter. I took apart the "slip ring", re-distributed the grease in there, added some more. It got less in loudness and now that wheather is getting warmer I don't have the squeak anymore. You can also google youtube videos to find out how to remove the slip ring. |
