DO NOT pump gas from BP/Kangaroo!!
Yesterday i was on my way home from work and stopped by the gas station closest to work which happened to be a BP because they are doing construction work on the road which covers like 85% of my commute co i am obligated(lowered car problems) to go an alternate route with few gas stations.
I have always heard and reluctantly supported not pumping BP gas on turbocharged cars because it cripples performance but after filling up the tank there yesterday i noticed the car became more sluggish and there is a significant loss of power on high revs. Maybe some people don't notice because they don't push their cars but after doing a few 2nd and 3rd gear pulls i realized how much it had affected performance, needless to say i will waste this gas away run a couple of bottles of techtron and go get an oil change, so for those who didnt know...BEWARE OF BP GAS! |

I've been to track days and HPDEs with BP gas, with no ill effects. I know quite a few instructors and good drivers who would know if their car isn't performing... and they have no complaints about BP (from the quality of their gas standpoint).

any additives? e85/meth etc? it may just be me..actually sctrach that is def not me the car definitely acts up with bp gas and I know of a few other cars that do the same including my wifes old saab it seems to be more noticeable on turbo cars. Maybe is just the local BP gas? Not sure but something is definitely up in my own and some of the people I know experiences, it also seems like its more noticeable after a full tank rather then just some gas.

Don't be so worried of 1 fill up of what you believe to be "toxic gas".
Do you know how many N54/55s there are in the world? Forget that, how many TURBOcharged cars there are in the world? How many BP gas stations are in the world? You really think that it's damaging engines where 1 fill up you already notice it..... P.L.A.C.E.B.O |

Lol. It's just in your head.
I mean, I would always fill up with the "top tier" (shell, chevron, etc) but that is a little extreme. Don't need to get oil changes, techrons, etc. It will be fine.

Go to another gas station (not another brand, just another place). Most issues are not with the gas itself, but with the condition of the storage tank (and respect of regulations concerning mix of ethanol, but let's assume everybody is honest, haha).
I used BP for some time on my motorcycle (much more sensitive to bad gas than a car), and it worked very happily on it. I switched brand as retaliation for the spill, but had no issues with quality. |

BP is the second largest oil company in the world. So I doubt it's BP. Crappy gas station with old tanks, maybe. And even non top tier gasolines wouldn't affect performance. Top tier is just in reference to additives and detergents, not the gasoline itself.

i mean im not crazy something is definitely up and it is definitely not the car as it has been just fine and was just inspected about 3 weeks ago while at the shop.
im gonna go with the theory of the pumps or tanks not being properly maintained or its condition, it just seems weird that its strictly BP the complains i have heard of?? as far as the gas station i have locally only pumped BP gas twice on two different cars at the same gas station causing the same out come so i am guessing at this point it is the gas station |

Oddly: Drivers with 2.0L CR TDI diesel engines from VW are scared of fuel quality because of the fragile HPFPs... and research shows that BP stations with Amoco fuel have the highest quality standards when it comes to diesel fuel (important because ULSD, Ultra Low Sulfar Diesel, became the standard in 2007).

It is not only BP. In my local area, I avoid all Weigel (maybe there are not all bad, but enough of them have caused problems that I ruled them all out), 1 Shell (and Shell is usually as good as it gets, just not at this location) and 1 Exxon. Interestingly, grocery stores like Sams, Costco or Kroger usually have no particular issues.
