Standard key with comfort access equipped vehicle
Can you program a standard key to work with a car equipped with comfort access?
I'm not looking for comfort access capability from the standard key. I simply want to be able to unlock the car and insert the key into the slot to start the engine.

You can also get the car coded to auto close windows, sunroof and fold mirrors with it. Thats not at the dealer, find a local coder for that. |

Do CA-equipped E90s even have slots? I know the newer F30s don't, but then I think every f30 has CA, I don't think excluding it is an option anymore.
Anyway, I think the answer's still no, because I think the bigger point is that you can't 'reprogram' an arbitrary key to work with an arbitrary car. Why do you ask? Are you trying to buy a replacement on ebay or something?

This is not possible according to BMW. Standard key could not be programed to operate in the same way as a keyfob with comfort access.

Since BMW makes 10 keys for each car when they produce it, and yours is a CA car, I doubt they would have a non-CA key that could still work with your car. If you order a key, it will be based on VIN, and a CA car will get a CA key. I don't think there is a way around it.

You still have to purchase a CA key. Just don't have them program it. It works just like a standard key then. You save some $$ anyway.
