trunk compartment secret accessory area

I lifted the cover in the trunk where normal cars keep the spare tire....and there's a place for some canister-shaped thing to rest, with unused brass screw holes to secure it (I guess.) What is this for?

I keep my jumper cables in there. I think certain non RFT spares can fit there. Found the below response from a 2yr old similar post.

"The molded spaces under the trunk mat are designed for the OEM BMW jack and tire tools, which of course don't come with the car. However, if you buy a donut spare kit that comes with the OEM tools, they are a perfect fit under there, even the jack. There is still some space left over for gloves, reflectors/flares, compressor, etc."

So how do you fit the jack there? Or is the E60 kit being sold now different somehow than the "real" E92 kit? I know the parts will physically fit, but there's not any way to secure them from sliding and bashing around. I got all my stuff from Tischer.

It's too bad that new jack kit doesn't fit well. I was actually hoping this area was for securing the mobility kit parts that I just ordered. When I saw those empty brass screw holes it just made me think my car might be missing something important!

Actually at one point in time I did find a part number for a foam insert for the little well in there to hold the mobility kit for the M3, I ASSume that M3 and 335i use the same trunk floor insert.

I don't have any details on the jack kit though.

I picked up a used older BMW jack off fleebay that fits perfectly in my e93 which may be smaller than e90/e92. May have been from the e46, i don't recall.

Good tip on the used jack Snow King, I just ordered a used one and I'll see how it fits. (I had no luck finding an OEM weed storage adapter kit on ebay, but a lot of other interesting stuff showed up when I searched for one.)

E46 jack looks exactly like the jack I got for Tischer for my E92 as part of their "kit."

The jack I bought rests securely in the compartment. Lay the jack on the the two U-shaped cradles with the white text facing you, with the jack slid over to the left so that the white jack pad is in the recessed area to the left of the leftmost cradle.
