Interior redo on a budget...

Got my 2009 335i recently but was never happy with the all black interior...just seemed too plain and dark to me so I decided to do a little accent painting and while I was at it I did the e-brake handle and pedals to add a little excitement. All told this redo cost less than $150.00 and I'm pleased with the results. I would have preferred a slightly darker tan but this is as dark as I could find. I spent the better part of a day prying pieces off the dash and masking everything up. The door panels took about 3 hours apiece. The pedals took an hour or so and the e-brake handle about 20minutes. Hope you like.

Paint and supplies:

No more solid black interior

Very nice effort. Two-tone is definitely not my cup of tea.

Do you plan on doing seating surfaces?

No, I'm done on the interior painting. The seats receive too much wear to risk painting them. My goal was to lighten the interior up a bit and I'm satisfied with where it is now. I understand two-tone isn't for everyone though.

That was the goal to make it similar to OEM.

Interesting. I currently have the beige interior but I always loved the lemon colour. Kind of put it behind me since I didn't want to pay thousands for a new interior but if this works and looks good I'll have to look into it again lol.

That actually looks really good. How does it look up close? Noticeable?

Props for a DIYer.

Even up close you can't tell it was painted. The 'rough' surface helps and will also help if and when I ever have to do a touch-up. Prep and careful masking are what makes this type of job.

That's the only way to remove the speaker covers and door handle contraptions. Not to hard to remove and there are vids out there showing how to do front and back. Removing also makes it easier to mask and you don't have to worry about paint dust, etc. when you're painting them.

Did you consider painting the sides of the center counsel past the arm rest. Looks good as is but that would be more OEM extended leather look.

You should get beige floor mats and a beige center console. Would really make the interior pop. Amazing work on the painting though, truly looks oem.

Thanks all...

I'll have to consider painting the center console...let me get used to what I have first though

Garmin mount is from here. Easy to install and pretty easy to remove again now that I have all those pry tools at my disposal.

Not a big fan of the color but excellent job OP! You could of fooled me if you said it was OEM.
