How are tires lasting so long?!
I have about 11,500 miles so far and the rear tires still have a pretty good amount tread left. How is this possible?! I'm spinning the rear tires countless times a day from 1st to 2nd gear and really driving the car hard on a daily basis.
On a previous vehicle, CLS63 AMG, I would start to see the steel in the rear tires after about 5-7k miles. Definitely impressed with the Super Sports!! |

You guys have no idea. I'm at 15,000 miles now and my PSS's still have at least another 3,000 miles on them and I drive my M5 harder than anyone I know. Just this last weekend I put 200 miles on the M5 all canyon carving and mountain driving. I'll put it another way, I'm still running my original PSS's from when I did Euro Delivery back in September last year and this includes several laps on the Nurburgring with these same tires. I speculate that if I didn't drive my M5 as hard I would easily get over 20,000 miles on a set of PSS's. I can't think of another tire that comes close to the performance and longetivity these things!

Funny about this thread, I came on here to see what people were saying about tire life... LOL.
Drive harder? I have 5100 miles and my rears are getting replaced tomorrow, they had 3/32 left... My fronts have 8/32 though.

LOL im with you on this, my rears were done at 8k miles. These tires are ok, I wish there was something better. Im not sure if everyone is driving with dsc on and feathering it or what? HAAHAHA, these tires need atleast 80% tread depth for launch control to be useful.

I just realized today that my rear tires had a shred pattern starting from the center tread all the way to the end of the inner tire. While the outer tread is spotless. I am sure this is not normal as I only have 9000 KM on the car. Any idea as to what this could be from?
I do spin the tires sometimes, however, I would imagine a clean fade not un even shredding. |

I'm at 14000 miles and its going to be time for tires very shortly.
So about 15000 miles of hard driving? Not bad. I'm taking the crap Goodyears of my ZL1 and switching to the PSS. These tires are that good. |

I went to Michelin and they said this is caused by spinning on rough roads. I have had my share of powerful cars in the past and never experienced this kind of damage before. |

What tyre pressure are you running in the rears? I spin them everytime I drive and have 15000 km and they are spotless compared to that!

for m5s 265 up front, 295 in back so tires are asymmetric
so warranty is 15k instead of 30k: http://www.michelinman.com/tire-sele...t/tire-details Michelin Limited Mileage Warranty 30,000 Mile Manufacturer's Treadwear Limited Warranty Pilot® Super Sport tires carry a 30,000 mile limited warranty in addition to the standard materials and workmanship warranty for treadwear or mileage. Download PDF Version of Warranty Available on: Pilot® Super Sport Speed Rating: [(Y), Y] * Mileage Warranty Exceptions Split fitments - If your vehicle has tires of different sizes on the front versus the rear axles, your tires cannot be rotated as recommended. Therefore, the mileage warranty on each rear tire will cover half the number of miles as the standard mileage warranty for that particular tire line. ZP (Zero Pressure) tires - The maximum mileage warranty for ZP tires is 30,000 miles. Standard limited warranty on all Michelin tires Standard Limited Warranty All Michelin® Tires All Michelin® tires have a Standard Manufacturer's Limited Warranty, which covers defects in workmanship and materials for the life of the original usable tread, or for 6 years from date of purchase, whichever occurs first.
