BRD's Build Thread

Hey everyone, I've been waiting forever to go ahead and make this post but I have yet to have time to do so. Now that I have time I decided that it's better late than never.

Back in mid March I became the new owner of a 2007 335i Coupe Montego Blue 6MT. When I bought the car It had 95,000 miles on it. I got the car for $15,000, I fell in love from the minute I started it. The reason for the high mileage was that the previous owner was a car lover alike with a long commute each day so at the end of his time with it he had racked up some good miles.

When I bought this car I went into it knowing that I'd be forking out some cash so that didn't come as a surprise with me. My previous car was a 2002 E39 525i with a 5 Speed so I've been educating myself with the world of BMW's for quite a while.

For everyone out here that decides to read this. I'm a 17 year old highschooler that loves cars. I work and make my own money and I paid for the car myself and I pay for my gas, insurance, and repairs.

Thanks to all the helpful people in this forum and I'll keep everyone updated with all my repairs, costs and problems! Now for the pictures!

That is one epic build!

But seriously congrats on the car. Take care of it and it will take care of you. Stay safe.

Thanks man! I have big plans for this car and just a question, how's your COBB doing? I was originally looking into the COBB as well but I was amazed by my bosses JB4 for basically half the price of a COBB so now I'm stuck.

JB4 is a great tune for the money. But the convenience and ease of use for the COBB made the extra money well worth it. I don't know much about the JB4 but COBB AP has endless possibilities with the ability to get your car proTuned. Also, COBB breaks down the Stages very easily depending on what mods you have (just check their website). In terms of power and reliability, I would say it's #1 among tunes. My car hasn't skipped a beat.

I will have to do some long thinking to finally decide. Pretty much my whole list of mods to my car will end up being

FMIC
COBB or JB4
RB turbos
DP's
Muffler Delete
Coilovers
Vossen CV3's (probably their 20" ones because a buddy has a set he might sell me with the same lug size)
Dynavin
and Methanol

Not in that order though^

Yeah I get a lot of comments like "oh you shouldn't be driving a car that nice at your age" and stuff like that. I sold my E39 for $8,000 (it was in perfect condition). I work both with my dad and at a frozen yogurt place. During the school year I sell sodas at school and make an extra $45 a day doing that. So I make a great amount of money for a kid my age.

Same here, I'm considering plastidiping it matte white though. I have a friend that's done it to his c230 and it turned out beautiful. Just gonna give it a go because if it doesn't look good then I can just peel it off.

Wastegate Rattle Fixed

Now that it's summer I've actually had the time to go about getting rid of the terrible wastegate rattle that made me embarrassed while driving around.

This was very simple and even though I feel that I'm going to have to go do this again I am resting assured that it's an easy fix.

For all of you who wonder I just followed Mr. 5's guide (he is a saint)
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=176269

In the first picture is a view of the rod that you have to get taunt again. labeled with the number 1 is the place where you have to use a tiny 10mm wrench to loosen the nut holding the actuator rod in place. Number 2 is the tricky one, That is the little groove that you have to cut a small wrench to fit the grooves.
I found out through trying my whole wrench set that a small 3/16ths wrench fits it great. I just cut it in half and now it resides in my spare tools storage area in the trunk.

Pretty straightforward but if anyone wants to ask me anything feel free to do so. I love helping in any way I can
