Uncomfortable seats in E90?

Hey guys,

I just bought my car from my BMW dealership a few months ago when they were selling all their 325i for cheap. It was a dealership car that had only 12,000 miles on it. Has Sport Package seats.

Anyways the first thing I noticed when I started driving my car was that the seats were way uncomfortable and very hard. I have sat in many BMWs before and have never felt seats this rock hard. The driver seat has softened up a little since I drive it every day but is still pretty hard, and the passenger seat is still hard as concrete. Everyone that rides in my car notices how hard the seats are. It's as if the leather was pulled on too tight and there is no cushioning underneath it.

I'm just wondering if there is anyone else out there with the same issues. Do you think the dealer will replace if I complain? It is so uncomfortable that I am considering selling the car.

My sport leatherette seats in my 335 are the softest BMW seats I have been in.

My e46 leather sport seats are stiff as fuck!

Ever owned a E36 M3 with Vaders? Thats a hard seat. I find the Sport seats the most comfortable of all the BMW's Iv owned. You may want to confirm that the air inflated side bolstered are adjusted correctly

If you have lumbar, check that it's properly inflated and at the right height. I was driving with mine way under-inflated for the first few weeks until I went to sit in another car on the show floor and noticed the adjustment setting.

I'm in exactly the same situation. I'm pretty tall (6' 1"), and the sport seats I have just kill my lower back. It hurt so bad one evening that I also thought about selling the car. Instead, I went to the auto parts store and bought one of those orthopedic back wedge supports, and it helped a lot. I experimented with several others and found out that it really doesn't take much extra cushion at all to resolve the comfort problem. The ones at the store only cost about $20 - $30, so it's a pretty cheap solution. The one I'm using now (forgot the brand name, sorry) is only about 1/2 inch thick, and it's thin enough that the rest of the seat still fits me well for lateral support in tight turns.

If that doesn't work for you, then I'd try just putting a different model seat in the car. Selling the car should be a last resort. Other members of the forum might know if older 3 or 5 series seats will fit in the new models without huge changes to the wiring and/or mounting brackets.

I got Wet Okole seat covers and they made the seats feel a lot softer and cushier. Actually made the car feel like it drives smoother.

Sorry Guys I should have cleared it up. The part that is rock hard is the part that you acutally sit on, not the side bolsters, I'm talking about the part right underneath you. The acutal seat is so damn hard, it you were to poke it, it would hurt your finger. Thats how hard it is.

The Wet Okole seat covers have a nice padding for your buttissimo. I don't feel every road imperfection on my @ss anymore You can get it in all black to preserve the "stock" look too.

Don't those covers block the airbags?
