335i Coupe Panoramic roof?

I just ordered a 2008 BMW 335i coupe from germany. I told the guy i wanted all the options, fully loaded black on black and he said something about a panoramic roof. He didnt speak very good english but does he just mean a sun roof or do the 335's in germany actually have a panoramic roof and does it retract like a sunroof?

The BMW usa site doesnt say anything about it, and the german site is down. I heard rumors before the car even came out that it might have a panoramic roof.. im just wondering if the german versions have them and we dont.

You should order it and take pictures of it when your car arrives. That way we can all be jealous and have something new to rant about.

You can always order the convertible if you want sun and wind.

Either he meant convertible, sunroof, or he's looking at one of the cars that do have it. Doesn't the X3 have a panoramic roof?

Yeah, there was definitely a language barrier there.. he probably meant a sunroof... i looked all over the net and didnt find anything about a panoramic roof. But anyway, i cant fuckin wait.. theyre modding it now for US emissions and whatnot, it should arrive in New York Harbor in 2-3 weeks. i wonder if there are any aesthetic differences between the US and German versions cause sometimes there are... especially since i got it fully loaded with the sport package.. theirs might look different.. mnaybe their rims are different too... well as soon as it comes in there will be pics posted. Just in case you guys are wondering why i opted to get it from germany, its because i needed one ASAP and all the dealers around me gave me 2 month time frames to get it.. So i had a friend in europe who has a big account with a german BMW dealership and i got the hookup... after shipping and taxes, im actually paying about $2000 dollars less too... anyway, thanks anyway guys. I cant wait for my first Bimmer!

Brockstone- Are you kidding me? Cause all 3 series(that I knew of) are made in germany. There is no way you are bringin over a european spec vehicle to the states without paying big bucks and finding a persron here in states to convert it which I don't even think its on the list(yes there is an authorized list) to ship over. I went through all of this for a skyline I was trying to ship back the states. So maybe I am just confused on what you are saying but most everyone has bought there car form germany but maybe through a middle man(the dealer). Again if I miss understood I am sorry, but if I didn't then you are a big dee dee dee.

you do know the sunroof could be considered panoramic or whatever. He also could have misworded.

Ive noticed the sunroof is much larger than any other I have seen normally. Although now seems all cars are having crazy 3-4 sunroofs. Even though I dont see the need.

I looked around and found out that the e90 touring(e91)(stationwagon) has an option for the panorama sunroof. And a panorama sunroof is usually alot bigger(E91 800mm by745mm) than a regular sunroof it usually covers over the rear passengers also. i have seen the one in a X5 and its a nice option but we do not have that option on the e90 coupe or sedan. Also guys didn't you read he/she/it is getting a "German Version" 335i coupe, come on this is a joke.

Doubt it. The curve and length of the roof just don't allow for it. You would have to step way up in class and get the E91 for that.

I would only like it if the glass disappeared into the car--the roof on the G6, for example, where it sticks up in the back looks terrible.

The Mercedes panorama roof in pretty nice, but it opens over the outside of the roof. I had a C230k with it and liked it.
The panorama roof in the E91 is the same as the one available for the X3. It opens into the roof, which is why you need a long enough and flat enough roof design. Only the front glass panel opens but it is a 2/3 and 1/3 design. When tilted, both panels open. We like it very much, but it is a tad noisy at highway speed unless you close the inner shade.

Hey, i've never ordered a car straight from europe before. My boss hooked me up with his family's dealer (hes a friggin european billionaire) and hes gotten alot of cars shipped here before. I went through the german dealer because there were crazy wait times to get one in my area. The dealers knew everything that had to be done to the car to bring it to the US, i mean its not like this is the first time someone has bypassed an american dealer and went through them. All in total after the taxes i have to pay once it gets into the states is about $50,000. I didnt talk to the dealer much anyway. My boss handled everything, i just spoke with him briefly. anyway. ill get some pics ass soon as the car comes in in about 3 weeks. thanks anyway guys.

Won't he be surprised when his new 3 series comes in and its really an X3. That one does have the panoramic roof. (Which I really don't like.)
