BMW F10 M5 343M wheels maintenance

Hi,
My BMW dealership never told me, but I was hoping to gather some information from this forum, but how long do the 20'' 343M Michellin Pilot Super Sports tires last? Probably not very long....

Actually, tread wear has been rather astounding for most. Many seem to be running strong north of 10k miles - and these aren't folks who baby the car.

Alternatively, you can do one DE track event and trash them at 7k like I did

I'm near 12000 miles with 1 recent HPDE.
Still have around 6/32 left.
Very impressed.

Also, can I fit lower-end tires after the first set wear out? Are the rims bespoke to the rubber? Because I'm not looking forward to shelling out $4k for each set of tires (especially because BMW maintenance plan doesn't include rubber)

Just over 13k here, and there's a good bit left. I'm impressed as well...

Quick question: why on earth would you want to fit a set of crappy tyres on a high perfromance machine like the M5? It is already highly traction limited using the OEM tyres which if you have the Michelin Pilot SS are widely regarded as one of, if not the best, ultra high performance street tyre available. Putting something with less traction both in the dry and wet on the car is counter-intuitive and less safe imho.

1.) When I'm not on a track I don't need a super high performance tire (just daily driving)
2.) Not everyone affords $4k for a set of Michellin rubbers
I wish I could tho

OP, you are in US right ?

I can't see why a set of 4 Michelin PSS would cost $4K. Even where I am, in Canada, it costs only $2000 Cdn or about the same in US $ (incl. taxes, installation, balancing)

That's what I've heard...I'm obviously clueless tho...
What tires are standard on the M5?
How much do the standard tires cost?

Edit: I am in USA.

tirerack.com is your general price reference.

I think the oem setup for Michelin PSS will run you about $1500 US and if you buy from there, then pay another couple hundreds to have them installed @ your local garage or tire shop.

Thanks a lot! I found them too. Do you think I should go for the Michelin PSS or Pirelli P Zero?

I am truly disappointed in you guys. Someone should have offered quintics a deal at $3K.

The Michelin Pilot Super Sport is a far better tyre than the P Zero. It has more grip both in dry and wet conditions, plus it will last longer which seems important to you. Further, I seem to have more issues balancing Pirellis than Michelins.

Thanks for the advice...I'll definitely go Michelin next time I change tires.
