Hesitation/Flatspot From Start?

Hi All,

I have a July built 2007 323i, Manual Box.

Yesterday I washed the Engine yesterday (which I do every month) and instead of taking it for a spin to assist the drying I left it sit over night.

When I started off this morning I now have noticed that there is a hesitation as the engine rises past 1000 RPM. This is a lot like a flat spot in a car that has a Carby fitted.

On the over-run I notice that when the car comes to a stop at a set of lights for example, the Economy Meter in the gauge cluster starts to rise from '0' up to around '5' quickly then settles, meanwhile the Engine RPM rises to around 1000 RPM then settles down to a normal idle.

I am trying to figure out if I have knocked off a vacuum tube or something that would cause such a scenario - or do I have a wet joint somewhere??

Pete
