Why do you love your bmw?
For me its the power, reliability (330 woot), Looks and amazing forum to go along with it. Ive had mine listed for sale for while now but every day it makes me wonder can I even find more reliable car that gets 39mpg 55mph then this when I sell it. Not many american cars get those mpg's.

Because I just spent 10 hours today driving a rental toyota corolla...
It was so frustrating being on the interstate following a bunch of cars on the passing lane driving slow... what was more frustrating was me flooring it, getting on the right lane trying to pass them on the right side and... nothing happened... no fucking power... when I returned that rental car this evening, and got back to my twin turbo 6, same scenario happened... I was on the left lane, following a bunch of slow ass drivers that should have moved their ass to the right lane, but this time all I had to do was downshift to 3rd gear, and floor it....and when I did, it felt like> That put a BIG smile on my face... THAT"S WHY I LOVE MY BMW...

It would have to be those beautiful days where I can just drop the top and let all my stress and troubles fly out the car, along with anything else that isn't battened down or weighs more than a pound

I've owned 5 BMW's and the 335 I currently own is the best yet overall. Though my seemingly indestructible E36 is a close second. It's the overall responsiveness and balance of the car. No one aspect of it overwhelms the other. That and a BMW engine will give you everything it has in the blink of an eye whether it's a base 316i or a 760 and the steering response is immediate even in the 5's/6's and 7's. The fact I can tell what's going on at the tires through the steering wheel has kept me out of the trees on wet roads more times than I care to admit. A Bimmer will never surprise you (unless you have an E30 with worn trailing arm bushings and lift off the throttle mid-turn...wheeeee).
Gizmo: I'm in the same boat, dude. 6 month TDY and I'm about to put my foot through the "infotainment touch screen" system on the rental Chevy Cruze. As bad as the CCC system is (my car's an '08) I'll take it any day over this POS. No power. And GM has managed to make the suspension harsh AND handle like crap. Best way I can sum it up: I have a friend who is a die hard Toyota guy. Made fun of me all the time for all maintenance I do and some of the N54 issues I've had. Then Kharma stuck. His do-no-wrong Camry started burning oil like a refinery. The dealer kept giving him the run-around on what is obviously a needed short block replacement. Then he started having tire wear/suspension issues. He took it in and they didn't have a loaner so he calls and asks if he can borrow one of my cars. Sure, I'm 4K miles away, just don't wreck it dude. He drives the 335 for week and when done I get this text message:" 335 back in garage, no issues, full tank of Chev 93. Thnx for the help. I get it now." Last seen test driving an F30. |

Every time I drive another car, I remember why I love my car so much. Quality interior, amazing driving, awesome power, and how beautiful it is inside and out.

I have a 328 so I can't say anything about having any kind of power, but I love my BMW mainly because it's mine. The comfort, interior, and driving feel all go a long way too. But I'm the kind of guy lol even if I had a toyota or lexus or anything else that I spent my own money on, I'd love it just as much as I love my 3 now.

To sum it up in two words: Driving experience.
I've never driven anything, whether it was a car I called my own or one I've test driven, that has delivered such a dynamically good driving experience. Handling, balance, acceleration (I know I have a 328 xDrive, but it feels plenty fast for daily driving on public roads to me, esp. in a city), engine/exhaust noise, it's just all there. It does all that while being a great daily driver! Next car will be a BMW if I can get over the steering feel and sound of the turbo I4 in the newer ones, or hopefully I'll be in a position to get the turbo I6.

The familiarity I have with the brand. When I get in I know I'm at home.
The body shape and size. The lovely balance of luxury/gadgets and power. + I obviously just love the way they drive as well. |

Two reasons:
1 - It does everything I bought it do very well. 2 - It's never left me needing to find an alternate means of transportation I could sit here and write about the things that irk me about it, indeed it's not a 100% perfect car, but the fact is that every single thing that motivated me to fork over nearly $50K it has done with aplomb and to my fullest expectation, and in some cases, it's exceeded my expectations.

I have a stock 328 and I got to say that one reason why i love my car is the power. I know my car doesn't have the power of a 335, but as an everyday car, the 328 is actually quite powerful. Majority of the everyday cars that people have in my area is a Honda civic, Toyta Corrolla/camery, Hyundai Sonata/elantra, dodge caravans, vans in general. So comparatively speaking, 328 is quiet powerful... I mean 230 hp in a small body is pretty potent. Thats one reason why I do like it.
Another is how fun it is to drive. I love how i can be one with the car. If i want the car to go one way it goes without lag, its like Im not driving a vehicle, but its me who's moving (if that make sense). I love the handling, the brakes on a stock bmw are amazing. It stops where I want it, and i never once feel unsafe. I drove a G37x as a rental and I hated it primarily because of the braking was crap. My dodge Caravan has better brakes that that crap. Last reason is the stance/look of the car. Every time i look at the car, I just simply fall back in love with it. I think BMW's are the best styled cars (in terms of exterior looks only). MY dad owns a MB s550 and although its a great car, i am not a super fan of how it looks. If i dont like how it looks, I wont be proud to drive it and therefore wouldn't love it. So call me superficial but looks matter for ME atleast (for my car atleast). |
