BMS does have a stage 2 available for the car if it has a pneumatic boost solenoid rather than the newer electronic one. Dyno numbers are on the "other" site.

What about the M-Performance Power Kit? Everyone here who's installed it (including myself) are giving it very good reviews. Plus, it's a BMW accessory, so there's no warranty hassles.

It really is only beneficial if you want to toss in more aggressive mods with it (at least a DP or I'd say stick with stage 1 as the gains are about the same until you're able to use other maps). If you plan on using DP and have access to E85, etc, Stage 2 will turn your car into a monster. Like the above poster said, stage 1 will give you more gains than anything else out there and is an easy install. |

What if i told you i have a JB4 stage 2 hooked up to my engine right now, what if i told you there is such a thing as an upgrade kit from stage 1 to stage 2. All you need is the old boost solenoid. To top it all what if i told you even a stock car will pull like a monster with the stage 2.. The difference is very noticeable from stage 1, especially torque wise. I hate it when people act all smartass, as if they're doing shit to help the OP out. Just stop, all you do is confuse people. |

People will have different opinions on all of this so I'd do some research. For bang for your buck, I'd go with BMS stuff (although when it comes to DPs, there are others that perform just as well, the main difference, it seems, is price and perhaps fitment, but I haven't heard many complaints of any of the major tuners versions). Stage 1 + a DP (let's go with BMS since it's widely used and honestly they all give about the same gain): You'll put down around 335hp at the wheels, which exceeds your 350hp goals at the crank by a fair margin. Not a bad way to spend under $1k and the Stage 1 is easily put on/off in 5 mins or less. Stage 2+ a DP will give you a bit more power for only $150ish more and more flexibility. Map 2 will put you at 355hp at the wheels with a DP. Toss in E85 and you'll be nearing 370hp at the wheels. Stage 2 isn't quite as easy to install/remove as it's not just plug and play (it is but you have to tap into wires instead of just plugging in connectors). As far as the intakes, AFE makes one right now that's pretty pricy, but looks good, not huge gains obviously (it's just an intake so you're probably looking at 10hp'ish) but they are there and probably even more with increased boost. BMS is working on one currently, not sure when it'll be released, but it will probably be a bit cheaper. |

Lol thats hilarious, my bad! Sorry op, didn't mean to be an ass!
Back on topic then, you should get the stage 2.. Its not THAT hard to install and the gains are pretty amazing. Would you guys do intake or downpipe first? |

Performance wise, DP is a no brainer. You're looking at a good 30hp with no other mod. But obviously it's a bit harder to install and cost a bit more. Intakes don't offer that much of a performance bump for it to be a first mod, unless you're really into the whoossshh sound.

JB4 Stage 2 does work on manuals but you tap into the CAN connectors in a different spot. As of now, the Stage 2 only works with cars with the pneumatic solenoid.
