Did I get this right or.....

"(M)-Mode" > "(DS)-Mode" > "(D)-Mode"

Did I get it right in terms of speed. Like, M-mode is the fastest and quickest position to put a 335i to go fast?

Or am I wrong?

You are just the perfect candidate for me to stir things up on this forum. How about:

Cruel Cruel Forum.

M Mode is for choosing the gear yourself. What happens will depend on what gear you choose at what time.

DS Mode is for better performance. D is for regular performance and better gas mileage.

DS mode DOES NOT MEAN FASTER OR GAS SAVER AT ALL. DS is just SPORT mode.

Sport mode (DS) means it starts in 1st gear and up shifts at higher rpms, it also downshifts earlier. D is just like Drive in any automatic and it usually starts in 2nd gear. (With BMW's Steptronic it is already more agressive than most other cars in the same D.)

drivers race. 99% of the people who buy MT have no idea how to really drive and would get spanked by someone driving the same car with steptronic....I have proven it several times with my lil 3er

While I will agree MT is more FUN...but it is not faster...those days are over.

if you are looking to get the quickest times leave it in DS launch around 1800 RPM by doing a light power break.

In DS the car will shift just at the end of the power band to keep the car in range at all times...a common mistake is people toss her into manual mode and shift it at the red line. When in fact the 335i drops off up close to the redline...therefore you are losing time and not going to run your 1/4 mile as fast.

If you just wanna shift...leave it in DS watch where it shifts....so you kinda learn where the shift points are and then from there on you can drive in M and know exactly where to shift her.

Good luck have fun and be safe.

D = Drive - regular drive
DS = Drive Sport - regualar drive, but keeps the car in a lower gear and changes gears at higher RPM's.
M = Manual - you have to change the gears yourself, like a MT, but no clutch.
