Rear pads wearing faster ...

Dear all

I have had this issue with my pervious E90 6 speed manual gearbox ; and almost replaced fronts and rears brake pads on average of 30000km (18600mi) for both front and rear.

It seems a bit worse With my current 2013 F30 320i I have drove 12000km (7500mi) and BC info says 12000km for Rear and 28000km for Fronts ... 😀

Anyone facing this issue, does it have anything to do with the DSC / DTC stuff ?? & I'm not using cruise control frequently

If you use gentle braking mostly, its normal for rear pads to wear faster. Rear pads engage first during slow stop, if more pressure is applied then fronts engage with more pressure biased towards front calipers.

The rear brakes are the acting force in the e-diff, and largely the acting for DSC. If your triggering these often b/c of your driving style, I could see them wearing faster.

Counter-point, BMW expects the opposite to happen as the computer shows front brake service scheduled ~10k before the rears.

Thanks a million guys ,,, seems like it is a DSC related issue then; lots of manoeuvres and driving mostly in Sport mode.

" Yet " could also be a ' braking style issue ' as back in the past I have had an issue of replacing fronts at 70000km on my VW GOLF MK4,, while rears got replaced below 50000 ,, the technician told me at that time it is not the normal case as well.

Would really like to get more feedback from Bimmers who have this same issue.... As said the E90 wasn't wearing at the same rate though
