E93 glove compartment lock .. Help !!

Hi
I just purchased a previously owned 2008 328i convertible and all of a sudden the glove compartment is locked. I can't unlock it with the key fob however I can't figure out why it is stuck on lock. I do not have the key to the glove compartment.

HELP !!!

Pull the actual key part out of the key fob and there you go.

When I took my car in for a recall and got it back my glove box was staying locked. I told them about it and they said it was broken before they did the recall service ^^

They checked it out and found out that they forgot to plug the glove box lock mechanism back in. ^^

Your problem is the glove box solenoid is broken but can be repaired.

Its been a while but I remember playing with a setting so it locks the glovebox and center console when you lock the car doors. That's so you can leave the car parked top down without getting robbed.

Open the master lock in the center and see if that unlocks the glovebox.

That is true there is a sliding switch on the left side of the glove box inside. One setting is valet setting and the other is full access. If the glove box still doesn't unlock once you have checked the setting then the solenoid is toast. Very common on early E93's in fact the only problem I have ever had with my car.
Interestingly of the two DIY fixes one is lubrication and the other a small plastic bumper so the solenoid doesn't over center itseft and get stuck.

I had the same thing happen in my 335i conv. I disassembled the glove box doorand found a loose connection on the motor that operates the door latch. Crimped the connector a bit and it works great.
