Service Engine Soon

so tonight i was goin to dinner in my 335i coupe and the service engine soon light came on. so i did the normal stuff like undoing the gas cap and other things like that and nothin worked. and no its not a fuel pump issue because i have a 9/07 build car with 600 miles. and ther was also no loss of power. any ideas on what it could have been?

I'm not an expert on BMWs but I don't think they're much different than many new cars in their susceptibility to false positive readings.

Whatever made the light come on should be stored as a fault in the ECU for when you take it in.

I hope your dealership is close to "somewhere".

How are you driving (for 600 miles) a September production-date car? The month is only two weeks old... I'm thinking you must be in Germany or elsewhere in Europe?

And in any case, where did you read there was a particular month/year when the fuel pump was changed to one that doesn't fail? There are people with July production cars with only a few hundred miles whose pumps have failed.

I haven't read anything on this forum that definitively stated the fuel pump problem is dead.

Yeah, it would suck if his dealer is "elsewhere".

My SES light came on last week, and though it seemed fine, I took her to the shop. Turned out to be faulty O2 sensors.
