Dirty Loaner - yuck!

Sooo... I dropped off my 335 at the dealership this morning to get the creak in the center console, rattle in the rear console, and fuel pump checked. They gave me a 328xi that seemed like the interior was never cleaned. Under 7k miles on the odometer, and there's sticky spots where people spilled drinks before. I think I saw an insect in the rear seat burrowing itself into crevices. YUCK! Have any of you guys gotten filthy loaners?

I got one absolutely dreadful C240 once from Mercedes, the rear seat looked like it had mud stains smeared over it...at least I hope it was mud... Inside the trunk were shards of broken glass from what looked like beer bottles. 13 months of ownership and I have yet to need a loaner from BMW, so I can't say how my dealer is as of yet.

BMW sounds like they are really good about loaners, I haven't had the chance to take advantage of it yet.

You drop off a Honda, or a Subaru (my experience) at a dealership that you didn't buy it from...they will tell you to go to hell.

Depends on the dealership, really. Some don't offer loaners. Some only offer loaners to folks who bought cars at that particular dealership. Some have loaners, but run out quickly and then you get something from Enterprise.

Same goes to the OP re: how clean the cars are. Some are just better than others.

My 328 loaner kicks ass. Of course it had like 800 miles on the odometer.

I got a 328 loaner from Morristown BMW that was probably the dirtiest car I had ever seen. The interior was disgusting and the seats stained a white shirt I was wearing. I also noticed that there was still glue residue on the outside of the car from the protective film the use during shipping. (Along with the dried bird droppings and mud) It looked like they never cleaned the car from the day it came off the truck.

This just shows you how inconcsiderate (sp?) people really are. The same asshole who got it dirty proably checked over his car at delivery hoping to find something wrong so he could try to nail the dealership. Now he or she ruins a loaner car and wants nothing to do with it. I have seen customers here really dirty up a car but if you ever confront them on it they will say it wasnt me it was there when I picked up the car. The if someting is picking up their car from service and it has damage on it and the dealership says "that was there already it wasnt us" the customer will not accept that and once again try to nail the dealer. Trust me when I tell you this happens all the time. Customers are becoming worse by the day (which is shown by how many people have gotten dirty loaners) and then expecting way more than they are entitled to. Its so amazing to me.

Just got a loaner from my dealership.....e90 328. I did not buy the car there and normally their policy is only to provide loaners to people who did purchase the car there. The 328 is dirty in and out, but I dont care! Its a nice car to drive for the next week or so while my car is being fixed.

My dealership didn't give me a filthy loaner but they did give me a new 528xi loaner with a cracked windshield that I've been driving around yesterday and today.

BTW, the new 5-series is pretty nice. So, i'm not complaining but it is kind of ghetto driving around with a huge 14" windshield fracture on the passenger side.

Maybe Dr. Explode had that very same loaner car.

Well most centers list that as a policy to ensure that their "original" customers get loaners as they were told they would. Most places, including ours do have that policy, but we still try and accomodate most everyone. But if it's a choice between the guy who bought his last 3 bmw's from us, or the guy who shopped the hell out of us, and bought up the road. Guess who gets the car.

So very true. We try to keep ours clean, (better than we used to be) but man I have seen some cars car come back that should make the customer embarrassed to give it back that way. In general though, we have a guy who washes the loaners each saturday. Obviously some are still out on loan, and may wait longer to get cleaned, so sometimes there are still some dirty ones out there

I just hope I get my car back today. I can't see how people would treat a car like that just because it's a loaner. I treat it as if it were my own car! Even the G35 sedan I got when I had an Infiniti was clean as a whistle.

should be the person who comes first, or has an appointment and asks for one when he's reserving the time slot. But it's probably not that fair :/
