Pasti Dip Project Fail....Nooo
So, this week i went out and bought the supply i needed to have a black roof.
Clay bar=$13 2xBlack Pasti Dip=$20 Glossifier Pasti Dip=$16 Wash,Clay my roof, and then Prep for pasti dip. I spent about 3hrs total. Total waste of time. Spent Almost $50 could of went with a vinyl gloss wrap. FML, So for anyone who wants to try pasti dip, DONT! Unless its for your trim. My pasti dip is very thin and hard to peel of. Anyone know a quick way to remove this. Thanks (Why Plasti Dip? I wanted a gloss roof for some time now and pasti dip seem like a good way without taking off the shark fin. Vinyl wrap seem like a lot of work.) Conclusion: Vinyl Wrap is the way to go. Don't be lazy and go with the dip unless you want it to look ghetto. Anyways im off to taking the dip of my car. Anyone know a fast way to take of the pasti dip please help. Its very thin and hard to peel. Last edited by DZheng; 08-21-2013 at 02:47 AM.. |

It looks like you didnt put enough layers. You need to put at least 4-5 coats to make it thick enough to peel off. My friend did the same thing with her rims and she is running into the same problem taking it off. According to her, the best way to get it off was rubbing it with her fingers as "nothing works as well." I'm sure other members should be able to offer better insight. Good luck, I hate when projects fail horribly.

I have no experience with this at all, but perhaps some packaging tape? The good strong brown or clear stuff? Peel of a foot or so, rub it onto the plastic crap, and peel off? I have no idea what this plastic coating is, have no idea what the idea was, but the tape might help get it off?
Good luck.

Might wanna try it again but this time - first coat u would want about 50% transparency - second coat will be about 75% - then the rest just black the shit out of it lol but not too much. U don't want it to start dripping Don't use too much but not too little too. Use the right amount and good luck with whatever u choose to go with next! |

1st: How evenly and thick did you apply the coats?
2nd: If you had bought the spray gun with the plastidip gallon, you would have achieved the exact look you were looking for doing a large surface like that with cans is too difficult. |

Post plasti Dip picture reminds me of a hearse. It's better that the plasti dip project did not work.
From my experience, if you put enough coats taking it off it just pull and peel. |

You have to wait 30 minutes between coats. Did you do this? I can still see silver in your "2nd can" pictures.
You needed to do more layers, and more time between layers.

Call the manufacturer....there is usually an 800 number on the can...ask them why it didnt work, and how to safely remove it.
they are usually pretty helpful. but be nice, its not the operators fault it didnt work...just bad luck, lack of experience, ect..... JP |

Did you prep the surface? You should wipe down any surface that is going to be painted with a lint free cloth and a 50/50 rubbing alcohol mix. Or purchase the real stuff to clean the surface before painting.
Need to spray it on much thicker. It doesn't spray like paint, it needs to be sprayed on like bed liner. Need to wait a 20-30 minutes between coats. I would also do a better job of covering the rest of your car from overspray. Power washer should take it off. |

He didn't use a clear coat over top, he used the Plastidip Glossifier, which is just as easy to remove as the dip itself. Looking at his pics tho, I don't think he went through with the glossifier.
