Complimented by more exotic car owners than I deserve!!!
Man oh Man....
What a past few weeks it has been 1.) 2nd week of ownership.... had a CLK63 cab owner race past traffic to get side by side to compliment me!!! 2.) My neighbor in Boston who has a 911 C4S couldnt stop talking about my car 3.) Most of my family who have high end cars loved it 4.) 2 weeks ago, an RS4 owner and me bantered around the local back roads and he couldnt stop ogling.... (What an exhaust note the RS4 has though ) 5.) The Pièce de résistance: Last Sunday. An M6 driver frantically tries to catch up to me and almost crashes!!! Rolls by me on a traffic light and tells me how much he loves it. Starts reminiscing about his '06 M3. I think I have just received celebrity status!!! If the performance of this car wasnt enough...its proving to be a massive head turner. I am in love.

Wow, I'm surprised you got that many compliments. e90, e92 & e93 are very common nowadays. They are everywhere in the Tri-state area of NY/NJ/PA.

I see a bunch of e90s on the road, but very few e92s and even fewer 335s in general. While I personally love the look of the new e90, I don't think it attracts much attention around here at all. I'm sure the e92 gets a few more looks/compliments though, and I bet the red interior is stunning. I anticipate my new E90 will get much less attention than my current S2000 though.

Yeah I know what you mean.... I live in NoVa and a BMW (specially a 3 series) is a usual order. But if you notice that its real petrolheads who give me compliments... thats what makes you feel special...you are finally recognised as a true motoring enthusiast!!!

I must be out of luck then or new yorkers are snobs... the other day I was passing by this beautiful black M6 and I tried to smile at the driver and give him a thumb up but the prick wouldn't even budge

You think the attention is bad in a 3-series, imagine how Ariel Atom owners feel. They have people stalking them and following them home to talk about their car. Some go way out of their way to get gas at rural gas stations. Some have given up going to gas stations completely, just filling gas cans with their other car.

i wish the e92 was still that exclusive out here in SF / bay area. i see 3s all day everday. the only recognition i get when i roll next to a 6 series is a look up and down my car and the driver giving me the look like "yeah biatch, ill smoke the shit out of your car"

As previously mentioned the SF Bay is full of 3 series and in the end it's only a 3er it is what it is. I only get attention in it because I am so young.

NJ is flooded with 3-series, especially non-335 E90s.
BTW, before I put my ED e92 335i order in, I had never seen a coupe outside the dealership floors. Now I see E92s (and there are all 335s!) every other day. Most are space gray or black. This is in NJ Morris/Essex counties. |

Not to be finical, but non of those constitute exotic cars.
Anyways, it is nice to get compliments from other car owners. Although I've only gotten it once from an SL500 owner though. This car seems to blend in in Houston. I got tons more comments and looks in my truck. |

There's another E93 4 houses down; we've become friendlier.
A space gray E93 parked next to me a couple of weeks ago in a mall and he seemed to like sparkling graphite more than space. He said he got his car when it came out in June; I didn't tell him I got it in, what, late March; I don't even remember. Got a wave back from a sparkling graphite E92 the other day. MB SL's are really common around here--way more common than E93's. I think the Chicago North Shore is one of their biggest markets after CA and maybe a few others. Quite a few Bentleys around, too. I can't imagine an exotic car acknowledging a 3 series.

I pulled into a gas station where there was another E90 335i owner. I complimented him on his car, and got a nod and a 'thanks'. No interest in discussing the cars at all.
At my usual gas station, one of the employees has an STI. He's always admiring my car and asking questions about it. He does seem to know a lot about them. I was a bit surprised. Funny about other BMW owners though...Most make a point of not making eye contact when I see them in traffic. I think some people are enthusiasts and some are just snobs. |
