e93 328 vs 335 MPG
have a '05 325 convertible and thinking of getting a 328 or 335. Right now i get 25 mpg on my trip to work and 23 mpg overall. if I wanted to stay within 20's for mpg would the 335 do it?

Depends on your driving style.
The 335i will easily get mid 20's in mixed driving if you drive "normally". However, if you drive semi aggressively expect low 20's If you drive aggressively, expect high teens mpg. As for the 328i, I can't speak about it's mpg. However, often I've noted that the less powerful versions of many cars often don't get any better mpg in the "real" world. Why is that you ask? Well, sometimes, the lower powered versions often require the driver to drive more aggressively than they would in the more powerful versions to accelerate the same or push the pedal down more to pass with any kind of verve. Doing so taxes the lower powered car more and means it's using more gas to accomplish the same amount of speed the higher powered car would do using less throttle and therefore less gas. But if you are happy with the performance of your 325 you'll be pleased with the performance of the 328i. If you wish you could have just a bit more performance from your 325i, the 328i will satisfy you. In either case, the 335i will having you grinning like a child and unless you are a power enthusiast (which I'm guessing you are not since you are asking about mpg and drive the lower powered 325i) have all the power you could ever want. |

with my e92 328i, if i drive normally, 50/50 split between highway and city driving, i can get 25-26mpg, if i drive aggressively, i drop to the low 20s mpg

For these powerful 3-series, the mpg's are quite respectable. Anywhere in the 20's for mpg is quite efficient, IMHO. If you like power, get the 335i. You won't regret it and mpg will be the last of your concern.
Enjoy the ride!

With mixed 50/50 highway/city driving I am getting around 22mpg. I drive normal most of the time, only get on it once and a while.

I have a supercharged Z06 and i get 30mpg on the highway.....and when i get into it I get about 7mpg
I'm curious as to how luggish the E93 328i vs the E93 335i.

Where in NJ? I am in the suburbs with a lot of start and stop and short trips. I average about 17-19 mpg usually. On the highway I get about 26-28 mpg travelling about 75 mph on average. Overall the car is averaging about 20 mpg.

my 335i mileage..
city = 16 - 19 hwy = 19-24 i kept changing my driving style and re-setting the odometer and mpg's to for testing...i drove 349 miles from tank to empty in normal conditions, low reving, it gave me an average of 21.9mpg from full to empty. So like he said above...gas mileage is as good as you'd want it to be.

Such a useless thread
How can you compare both when you have AVG mpg just for 335 ranging from 12 to 25 depending on the driver, location, traffic, avg speed, MT vs AT, etc Same goes for 328 Unless you have 328 and 335 in your garage and drive them side by side on the same roads, you might have better idea Someone created similar thread on Infiniti forum to compare FX45 and 35 Results were more off from the forum vs my own experience In reality you should have very similar mpg between 328 and 335 when you commute and you're not aggresive driver |
