Dual Voltage Orbital Polisher?

hey guys, ive been looking around for an orbital polisher and when i saw the porter cable polisher being recommended in the detailing 101 i was about to buy it, but then on second thought, it doesn't pay off for me since i will be moving to europe next year and i wouldn't be able to use it over there. does anyone have any good recommendations for an orbital polisher that runs on both 110v/50hz and 220v60hz? Thanks.

well, i have converters running for other overseas appliances at 220v...i suppose i would use one of them as a last resort, but its a pain to need an extra converter just to run the thing. i already bought tv, dvd player etc. with dual voltage, to avoid the need to have more converters in the future, and i'd rather buy a polisher that can cope with both voltages, not needing to rely on an extra converter...besides, despite the small risk, if anything ever happens caused by the usage of one of those converters, no insurance covers anything.

This is almost too crazy to work. I am in Europe right now and will be moving back to DC in 8-9 months. What if we agreed to buy PC's, me a 220 and you a 110 then swap when you move here and I move there? I absolutely do not want to spend another dime on 220 stuff for only half a year but I might be willing to do this. If you want to discuss this, shoot me a PM and we can talk.

One other thing, some equipment doesn't work fully here because it is not only the voltage that is different but the cycles. Don't ask me what the cycle difference is, all I know is that none of my rechargeable stuff or other high energy stuff, like my vacuum cleaner, would work here.

You're not going to find an AC motor that works on both 60Hz and 50Hz. Larger motors are commonly switchable between 120V and 240V by changing some cross-connections on the windings, but the voltage+frequency of the input is fundamental to the design of the motor.

What you're asking for is a polisher with interchangeable motors. I'd say you're stuck buying two
