sorry if this has already been asked but after having a play in the M5, I was well impressed with the HUD....does anyone have info as to whether this is coming to the E90 or E90 coupe/M3

As far as I know the heads up isn't in the E90. Who knows, maybe they are saving it for the face lift...or their "now it's a new year, lets make those buyers who bought last year jelous by changing things" anual changes.

HUD a waste of $$ IMO. It was a cool toy in my Z06 but is nothing to get worked up over. In bright light it stinks, only cool at night.

Is it worth the $1,000? I don't know. It is pretty cool though and could be valuable at night. If it shows navigation information, as some do, then it would be very, very cool. I could see it as an option in the coupe and the M3. Definitely the M3, since the M6 will have it and prob M5. BMW has not mentioned anything that I have read with regards to the HUD and E90 though.

the nav stuff is very good on it but where the M5 beats allcomers is the fact that the rev-counter is on the head-up display....IN COLOUR .....really useful

just listent to the motor and have a fat pocket lol. It is a waste of money with the screen so high in the dash why would you need it for navi?

Heads Up
Tho definitely a luxury, it does have a certain coolness factor. Now what I really want is a Navigation HUD combined with radar detection. It would display the police cruiser, range and vector. Combine this with a lightweight pair of glasses that swivel the headlights when you turn your head, and an infrared deer detector (Here in Western PA, that's a big deal).

The Heads Up Display is the single best feature of my car, I was really not fussed about it when I was gettingthe car and just thought 'another toy', however, after using it for a few months I would find it extremely difficult to go back into a car without it. I don't think I have looked at the regular speedo since I got the car, when I go onto the continent I tell the car I am about to change to left hand drive and KM and the HUD will give me km instead of miles on the nav directions, l/km and km/h which makes it so much easier.
All in all an excellent feature that will become standard over the next few years. |

HUD - will never have a car without it again. I wear trifocals and have a hard time reading normal dash guages. Hud is perfect for me. I do wish it had more stuff even, including Tach, gear and turn signals but as is it is very useful to me. NAV on it is cool as I can hide it from prying eyes. I told CA that if/when e92 does ever get HUD call and I'll buy one.

I wonder... are there any other options for a HUD? Like... the VSD Hud is one option, any other recomended HUDs? Like... maybe one that has an orange color to match the BMW interior?

I guess you can get a transparent color filter to make the blue orange, but in my opinion I like the blue better for the HUD
