Wheel advice
Hey guys,
Finally got the M5 bought up. It's already on the boat and is set to land in 10 days (didn't even make it to the dealership haha). Now I am trying to figure what wheels to put on. I am going with a gloss black, mesh, concave wheel. Call me cheap but I really don't want to spend 8k+ on wheels after dropping that much on the car. So that pretty much eliminates HRE, BBC, ADV etc. unfortunately. I like the looks of the BC HB04's but haven't heard much from you guys as far as feedback on BC wheels. I am really hoping you guys can educate me on so good 3-5k options. Thank so much guys!! |

I think BC is made in Taiwan. Not sure the quality.
If you are going this route, I would consider HRE flow form wheel instead. You should be looking for 20". There are still no 19" out there (as far as I know) that will clear the M5 brakes caliper, except stock wheels. http://www.hrewheels.com/flowform/#&panel1-1 Last edited by bobblehead; 04-17-2013 at 08:05 PM.. |

Those flow form are $3k save a little more and get better wheels. I would try MORR if I was you, they are not as outrageously priced as HRE. I haven't heard anything bad about BC. Maybe even try to get a used set of the premium brands?

$3K+ for the entire set. Not each.
Similar price range if you were to get one made by Advan or Rays (flow form) |

Those flowforms are a nice looking set of wheels! I guess it is all personal preference and I agree that 3 piece wheels are super sexy but I just can't wrap my head around dropping that much on a set of wheels right after buying the car (more importantly I can't convince the wife hahaha)
You think 3k is too much SD? Thank you for the input everyone |

Been doing a lot of looking around... wondering if anyone has any experience with Strasse wheels. I really like the SM7's. Might be pulling the trigger soon and was hoping for some feedback.

Relating to my above post....
Is the BC HB-05 that much different from the Strasse wheel to justify the price difference? Which is about 1400... Just looking for some help and arm twisting either way I guess LOL Thanks guys |

I think you should select a high end wheel which is known to be both lighter and stronger than the OEM wheel. HRE, ADV1 and Morr can provide that. My guess is Strasse can too but not at 3k.
Quite frankly if you are taking off the excellent forged OEM wheels to replace with a 3k aftermarket set, then I think you are insane. Why lower the engineering integrity of your car just to be different? A smart man would do it right or leave it alone.

winning statement here.... why buy the 100k car and put on the walmart wheels "so to speak" when you already have the forged OEM set? And you can get hre's under retail all day long- ask wheels boutique.

I see your point and totally understand.
The main reason I am switching wheels is because honestly, I just don't like that looks of the factory wheels. I agree with not putting "walmart wheels" on a 100k car. But I also didn't spend 100k on the car to look at it and not like the wheels. I already have a buyer for the old ones, I just can't believe it's that hard to find a good quality wheel with the specs I'm looking for for under 5k. Thanks for the input guys. Appreciate the opinions and help. |

Look at the vendors I suggested, get the specs on weights and do not add weight. Remember, expensive wheels usually have pretty good resale, so what you pay up front is not the true cost to own over the duration you own the car.

I have Modulare B1 Monoblock on my E60 and my friend has BC Forged HB04 on his F10 and I think both wheels are high quality. BC Forged has a good reputation on the M3 and Audi boards from what I found.
