Anyone already have cracks in their leatherette?

I just noticed my driver seat is cracked in two places. They are about an inch to 2 inches long. Don't say it's worthless without pictures. I can post some if it's really necessary. I did a search and found at least one other member who had the same problem.

if your leatherette cracks and it isnt because of you damaging the seats BMW is willing to replace the seat or get the seat fix for you for free, but then again it's under your service Managers discretion if he thinks it's Manu. defect or some someone messed it up. so Give it a shot and bring it in

Maybe due to product you are using to clean them.

You don't usually hear of leatherette cracking--I would just take it in and see what the dealer says.

Only use water to clean them.. Usually the stuff that makes it shinny what it does is takes a small layer off the top and will weaken the material over time.

I find the best way to avoid getting cracks on my seat is to make sure no one is wearing low rise jeans.

Seriously the suck about the seats hope the dealer makes it right

I had the same problem 6 months after I got my new 2000 325ci. I think it was pulled to tight over the cushion and it made it split. Not a big deal. They will fix it for free. I had it in my 2002 325ci and I have it in my new 328i and no problems.

I have a 14-year-old touring with leatherette. The stuff is bulletproof! You just got a defective seat. BMW will make it good.

mine cracked. small 2 cm crack. brought it in and they replaced it no Q's asked. took about 2 weeks to get the leatherette seat cover in, and about 1 1/2 days to remove the existing one and put the new one on. somehow they needed to send it out to a tailor?!?!? to have it restitched too

I've seen our Leatherette crack many times, but it's usually the cheaper ones (Sensatec.... in the X3's and Z4's).

The sun dries it out, then the stress of weight cracks it.

This definitely happens with leatherette. My E46 leatherette is worn and cracked on the left side of the driver side (when i'm sitting). Because I learned the hard way, I CAREFULLY get into my E92 (with leather) because my buddy's E92's leather is already wearing, after less than a year.

I hope they fix it. I'm at +45,000 miles so I better hurry in there before warranty expires.
