Exclamation Urgent: M Sport/Performance Brakes Question

All, before you kill me because I know this has been posted about, trust me I've read every post and thread I could find on this topic...

I'm about to visit my dealer at noon to talk about ordering a 335i US M-Sport trim and I'm trying to get the M Sport Brakes (blue ones) added like they have in Canada for $350. They are telling me that I can only get the M Performance Brakes which are $2800-$3000 though.

I've begun seeing people selling the M Sport Brakes though for $11-1300 in the US so I'm assuming somehow people are ordering this option and getting it, then opting to sell them for the M Performance Brakes and selling these to make up about $800-1000 back (Pay $350 for M Sport Brakes, sell for $1300, buy Performance Brakes for $2800, net cost of Performance brakes are now only $1800).

Can anyone help? I'm going to the dealer at noon so I only have an hour or hour and half at max for any insight.

Thank you!!

I think Canada (and other countries) have a different option than the US with regards with brakes. Someone will chime in if i'm wrong, but I think your dealer may actually be correct this time. I "think" your option for different brakes is the M Performance Brakes which is the much higher cost that you're seeing.

Canada is different.

Here the MSport brakes are mechanically and physically identical to any other line aside from Euro Brake pads.

The M Performance is an upgrade and can be purchased from BMW dealers for about $2k front and rear plus install. If you want to have it done at the port, negotiate. You can print out the other dealer sources at $2k as a bargaining tool.

Can I buy the M Sport Brakes (blue) separately as a replacement part then install them on my US F30 as an "after market" even though it's OEM parts from Canada/UK/Europe?

428 and 435 do show 2HN offering in US so maybe I could even order those and put them on the 335i/328i??

From what I remember, the $350 upgrade in other countries might just be standard brakes painted blue.

You would be doing a lot of complicated things to basically have painted brake calipers which you can have a shop do for a couple hundred bucks.

MPerformance would be a real upgrade as the calipers are beefier 4 piston versions in place of two.

Mmm I can't speak for US, but for Sweden (where I live) I just ordered the M Sport Brakes upgrade (2NH) from factory. This also gives me larger brakdiscs since my winter tires had to go from 17" to 18" (and that is with just a few of the 18" wheels, like the M sport 18" (model 400?)). So here we seem to get larger brake disks as well.

It would be nice if someone - once and for all - could figure out what exactly happens when one orders the M Sport Brakes....

And what is included in the normal M Sport package....

BMW likes to make it difficult for us by having different components for each region.

MSport in the US is very simple.

Nothing is upgraded from any other line, only the brake pads which are Euro market.

That is IT.

So are they 340mm or 370mm? I read in a post somewhere here that m sport and m performance have a 30mm difference? They said m sport and m performance are same size at 370mm..

While we are on the subject of M Performance brakes, does anyone know if there is any difference between M Performance BBK's for 328's and 335's?

None.

The 328 requires the upgrade on the rear rotors, many dealers have this as a package or $200ish extra for the rotors.

Really, in this sticky, someone wrote that the MSport front brakes are 14.6" which is 370mm. http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=685033

We need to get an updated sticky with good info. I can't go measure my brakes right now to check.

Euro M-Sport brakes with blue calipers are IDENTICAL to the M-Performance brakes offered everywhere, same size discs, same calipers etc. Only difference is that the M-Performance ones have slotted discs. Thatīs it.

They are not "just painted blue" like someone here mentioned....

Stop posting incorrect information...

And from a logic stand point, do you REALLY think BMW would offer a M Performance brake upgrade for just color for $2800 MSRP vs. people just buying it from the factory via the M Sport option???

How does that make marketing or pricing sense??

The blue M-sport brakes are different compared to stock 335i brakes but the same as the M Performance brakes except for discs. We pay about $1000 to get the blue M sport brakes here in Europe.

Blue M sport brakes are 4-piston units at the front, 2-piston units at the rear.

So if you have a 328i or 335i with stock M sport and buys a the M performance brakes you get more than a new color. But if you have the upgraded blue calipers you just need the discs as they are the same size as the M performance ones.

You have to factor that the blue M sport brakes are $1000 premium over the already included brakes. If add it all up it will be the same price basically.

Yes, PISTONS and as you can see from the caliper HOUSING its IDENTICAL. Or does the Performance ones have MAGIC HIDDEN PISTONS?

As Rossifumi wrote, its much more expensive HERE, Europe, where we pay almost twice what you pay for the F30s.
