My DIY OSS Style Full Blackout LED Headlights.
Hey guys,
I've always been a huge fan of the OSS style Angel Eyes but I definitely did not want to ship my healights out and pay the 800+ shipping which I think is rediculous. I started reading a lot of DIY threads on this forum and after researching and looking through other people's DIY thread I was confident enough that I could do it myself. I ordered a set of the Orion V2's a couple of weeks ago and they came in last Thursday. Sunday night when I got home from my trip I took my headlights off and spent most of today (Monday) taking the headlights apart and doing the LED rings with the full blackout headlights. I decided to go with the V2's rather than the V4's because I was afraid that the V4's might have been too bright to where it would look like the HID Angel Eyes which I am not quite fond of, also I like the beaded look of V2.'s The entire project took me approximately 9 hours or so and I still have to put the new sealant on and put the cover back on. I forgot to buy the new sealant today so I guess I will have to do it tomorrow after work. I decided to follow a fellow member's DIY thread which I found to be the easiest and most helpful thread in my opinion. Here is a link to his DIY thread. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=739301 Here are some step by step pictures that I took while doing this project. Enjoy! Stock Head lights Tools that I used Headlight taken apart after Baking for 8 minutes Internals removed Cutting OEM angel eyes rings after measuring to retrofit to the Umnitza's LED rings Lining everything up to add the new LED rings to the cut parts of the OEM rings. The new LED ring with the parts of the OEM rings put together with Epoxy New rings with the Epoxy sanded down and painted black with wires also painted black Sanded down and ready for primer Primed and ready for Paint Re-assembled cover with blacked out corners and corner LED delete Re-assembling the headlight back together Installed the outer LED ring Used the dremel to cut a small hole in the OEM inner ring to run the wires for the new LED rings so I won't have ugly visible wires Inner LED ring soldered over the painted OEM ring Both rings installed and everything re-assembled besides the cover Side view. No ugly wires as they were painted black and glued to the back of the LED ring so they won't be as visible How the look plugged in.. More than enough brightness. Both Headlights lit up I will update tomorrow with pictures of the headlights on the car also with daytime pictures to show how well these look in the sunlight. Hopefully it's nice and sunny tomorrow. Last edited by godzllla85; 04-02-2013 at 01:24 AM.. |

Brave man. How difficult was it? Do you have adaptive lights?
I've been tempted to try this myself but I've always thought the potential for f'ing something up is just too high. |

love it!
we should have done this together. my headlights came apart with minimal heat gunning, no oven at all. if you dont mind me asking. What epoxy did u use for the angel eyes? What sealant did u end up using for resealing it? |

I used permatex epoxy plastic weld and for the sealant I used amazing goop sealant. I bought both at Canadian tire. I chose the plastic weld because when is hardens I can sand it down like plastic and when I sealed it I rebaked the headlight so the original sealant would soften up than I caked on the goop. I washed my car twice and concentrated around the headlight area and still no problem with condensation.
