So wear your seatbelt when you drive, and walk to the store for exercise. If you love your car you don't take it out for short trips like that. If you love to live you'll wear a seatbelt when you drive.

You're not allowed to ask this question on these forums. Everyone's going to just yell at you and give you life lessons.

But from other posts apparently you can have the dealer turn it off BUT getting them to do it could be a hassle.

There is a DIY mode somewhere on here. It has to do with wearing your seatbelt!

well the smart answer would be to just wear youre damn belt ive been in too many accidents(non of which ere my fault, thank you), and to tell you the truth, without a seatbelt, i dont even what to know what woulda happened

but the answer you want is this go to a junk yard, cut the seat belt off a german? car, take the hook thingy and shove it in there....

but seriously, wear youre seat belt, it WILL save your life.

What's the issue with just wearing your seatbelt? It's not like it's difficult to put on, or inflicts any pain on you?

The airbag system will, I believe, also react differently if you don't have your seatbelt on. Not much point in buying a safe car, if you choose to turn all the safety systems off...

I have the answer to your problem but I really recommend that you wear your seat belt. Buy a seat belt clasp and insert it into the latch. The car will think you are wearing your seat belt. I actually fabricated a dummy out of plastic. But I only use mine on the passenger side when my dog rides in the front seat. BTW, I did so because I could not find a seat belt clasp at any junk yard and BMW wanted over $100 for a belt with clasp.

this reminds me of a story i read a few years ago. An anti-seatbelt law activist (this guy actually protested against seatbelt laws, wrote articles, etc) died when he was thrown from a ford explorer in a crash.

i lol'ed.

And the OP has a vert. I'd hate to see what happens to the body when the top is down and no seat belt....

It's there for a reason, use it.

Yeah I'm still waiting to find a real answer to this question but every time someone posts it the seatbelt-nazis come yell at the OP.

I'd l like to know because 95% of the time I wear my seatbelt, but in certain situations (getting out of my parking garage) I don't wear it because sometimes I get out once I reach the bottom of the garage. If I'm buying a $50k car I don't want it to be beeping at me when I'm driving out of my garage or whenever i set a heavy object on the passenger seat. That's just annoying.

It's not that anyone is really pissed at you persia. It's the notion that putting on a seat belt is just to difficult and time consuming that people are having issue with.

It's sort of a retarded fashion thing here in some parts of the country. There's this notion that wearing your seatbelt makes a person less "Down" or "Tough" or whatever the mentally challenged are going for.

I get the whole Ding Ding is annoying when moving the car, but just let it go when moving cars, and wear your belt when on the road. It's painless and one of the simplest things you can do to give yourself a HUGE advantage if you're in an accident.

You still hear a lot of remarkably stupid, ignorant, out dated, and plain false claims about seat belts, "My personal freedom" etc... It's lame and gets people killed for nothing. It's not about being a rebel, it's about being in control of your vehicle and protecting yourself from the dumb shit out there driving her SUV, DRINKING her Latte, yaking on the phone with her head up her ass.

"Seatbelt Nazis"? WTF?

Seatbelt nazis - The people who won't answer the question of how to turn off the beep, but will instead flame the OP endlessly when this question comes up.

Doesn't the seat belt sound go off if you have something heavy in the passenger seat? That doesn't really add to your safety.

Plus how many other mods have people done to their car to make it slightly less safe? The reflector delete makes the car less visible from the sides yet no one gets up in arms about that. The reflector delete is a mod where you sacrifice a small amount of safety for a better looking car. The seatbelt chime mod sacrifices a small amount of safety (if you're only using it in certain situations) for convenience.

It's pretty amazing how many people will come into these discussions and completely neglect the original question but instead spew their advice about wearing seat belts 100% of the time you're in a car. Every poster who's asked this probably wears their seat belt 95% of the time buy simply wants an answer of how to turn the chime off for a specific situation.

The plastic thing seems to be the only cheap and easy way around the chime. I keep one in the center armrest for when I drive alone and my briefcase is on the seat next to me.

find music that's the same tempo (bpm) as the seatbelt warning bells.

I took my seatbelt off while parking and the music happened to be the exact bpm as the bells. I was surprized to find myself not annoyed at all as the bells sounded like they were part of the music.
