328xi Kw V3
I just installed my 19" CSL's from **********s and I made an appt. to have my KW V3's installed early next week. Should have before and after pictures then. If any of you XI owners have any questions about the KW set up I'll have answers for you by midweek next! I'm psyched!

yea, I agree, I'm never going to track this car but V3 is really the only choice unless you want to go with just springs. I think it might end up being worth it though seeing as how they are so easy to adjust. That way in the winter you can jack them back up to close to stock and then bring them back down in the summer. We'll see how it goes.

At least you know you will be getting the best there is out there...and if you ever have to resell it, it should hold its value fairly well.
Let me know if you are interested in a set, and I can hook you up on some. -Don |

Can you possibly take detailed pictures of the XI coilover before you install it?
I really wonder what the differences are between that and the RWD version. Thanks in advance. |

theyre a little too much for me also, i wish they could come out with springs to drop Xis lower than the H&R sport. My 328xi coupe is going to be riding too high if i get those...

Ok guys, first off when I started with the car it had stock suspension. I do have sport package but the suspension on all XI's are the same with or without sport.
These are the KW V3 coilovers. I bought them from Ron @ **********s as well as my CSL Reps. Those guys were great to deal with and Ron always returned my emails very promptly. I would suggest getting a hold of him with any questions you might have if your looking for a similat setup. I believe they also have HR sport/race springs and other setups as well. As long as these pics post in order of how I put them on, the first is with the OE setup, next two should be after the KW's were installed. The last is a pic of everything that came with the kit minus one front and rear assembly because I didn't want to unwrap everything for the pic. I currently have it set about 1 3/8 inches lower on the rear, and 1 9/16 lower on the front. Those measurements have about an 1/8 tolerance either way because once we had it set with those measurments, we put some miles on it, and after everything had settled, we did end up tweaking a couple corners to level everything out. As for rebound/dampening, we have the front set at 4 clicks from the softest setting, and the rear 3 clicks from softest. The ride feels firmer and more agile, but it really only feels rougher at 30mph and slower, after that things don't feel any rougher, just a bit more firm. I guess it's hard to explain. I was expecting to be trading off a huge amount of comfort for ride height and it truly blew my mind when I drove it. You really don't trade anything! I would highly recommend this suspension if you just want to drop things, but don't want a much firmer ride, or if you intend to track this car often and need to change your setings between everyday, and track. This is a great setup. One thing to mention is that in order to change your ride hieght, you have to jack everything up, take off your tires (makes it much easier and in the end faster) and use the wrenches that came with the kit, and in order to really make sure everything is level you really have to do this a few times, because you can't measure very well by the compression of spring. It will get you close, but not perfect. Also to change the rebound/dampening the front isn't so bad, but the rear is truly horrible unless you are willing to cut holes in the carpet molding in the trunk. Otherwise you have to remove all of that (time consuming with all the clips you nees to remove) and then you can make your adjustments. Otherwise if you have any questions I will answer them if I can otherwise PM Ron or any of those cats with **********s. -Doug

It's also worth mentioning that in that first before picture, because of the shadows under the fender the gap doesn't look to be as big as it is. TRUST me, that drop is a huge difference. If the shadow wasn't there on the non dropped pic you would see what I mean.
Oh and sorry the pics suck so bad. I am not a photographer, and I didn't spend much time on taking them. also my car is a mess because I live on a mile long gravel driveway, and it has rained everyday here this week. I do what I can to keep it clean but it's impossible. Especially on black!

I dont think they do for the XI models. they are pretty different. KW only makes coilovers for the XI in variant 3 and nothing else, at least from what I've been told. Also on the XI's on the rear assembly, the spring doesn't actually go over the shock. It is mounted next to it. It is basicaly mount on the back of the car like it is sitting on the pic shown.
I am just going off of what I have been told from the vendors I spoke to when I was researching what setup to go with, and then what the tech that put them on told me. I know your pretty much the resident e90 expert on this forum so now I am utterly confused!
