Worth ordering the Dynamic Handling Package?
I'm planning on lowering my 328xi touring when it arrives. I've never been a fan of using just springs to lower my cars because the drop is never perfect, and coilovers tend to be a better option overall because of the matched springs/dampers and ability to dial in the ride height perfectly. That being said, there are no coilovers I know of that integrate with the factory adaptive suspension (KW DDC maybe?), so is it worth it just for the steering if I'll likely be disabling the adaptive suspension? My only decent spring alternative to keep adaptive in tact would be KW height adjustable springs, but who knows if they will release them for xdrive cars? AFAIK, they aren't even out for the regular F30 yet? Decisions...

DHP has the most value for xdrive, its almost a deal breaker to go without it.

The title of your thread is the DHP package worth ordering lol.
You basically said it yourself, the aftermarket is not doing much to cater to x drive and or DHP cars, only one very $$$$ kw set up will work with DHP from what I remember. So either get DHP and be done, or hold out for a coil over set that is confirmed to be compatible with xdrive.

DHP is great for those who would never dare modify their cars. But for guys like me and you, DHP will just complicate things.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Skip DHP and put the money toward the suspension mods I'm going to do anyway. Unless someone can give me a compelling reason why I have to have it...

Problem is that if you want VSS, you're forced to get DHP, at least in the U.S.

I believe in getting out all the artificiality you can if you are going aftermarket. vSS and DHP are great for the guys who want the best that BmW offers and covet their warranty. For a long time now, the aftermarket has been able to do great things with the 3 series.

VSS is absolutely amazing, it makes the steering ratio so tight! And from what I've read, correct me if I'm wrong, the VSS is actually a mechanical setup using gears to provide the variable steering whereas the standard steering is electric. I'd go with the the package just for the VSS honestly

Any particular reason you say it has the most value for xdrive? i know it doesnt come with sports suspension so its an 'upgrade', but what are the actual physical effects? does it make comfort more comfortable and sport more sporty?

On rwd cars with sports suspension you have some BMW dna that shines through. XDrive is not a performance enhancing system, it's a traction enhancement . So DHP is the only way via the factory to inject a bit more sport back in.

If you keep your car over the long term (5+ years), is anyone worried about the replacement part cost for a DHP optioned car?

I have DHP on a rwd car and if i had to do it again, i would skip it and spend the money on MPS instead. Unfortunately, i don't think that's compatible with x-drive cars.

Don't forget, Dinan has already come out with springs for the DHP and soon(er or later) they will release Shockware to sportify the standard DHP struts. So I wouldn't necessarily agree with the bolded statement.

I did not read all the responses, but I don't think DHP is worth it if you disable the adaptive suspension and only keep VSS.

realizing it's a little off topic for what Blake is asking about, but since I'm someone who won't otherwise mod his car, I'm glad I added DHP to my car the other day (just getting production #).
I wasn't sure about the steering, but there were some pretty good comments made about it. Thanks…….I hope. Similarly, hope I don't regret getting the electronic toys. I don't think I'll keep this car 5 years, hopefully just 4.
