Hit & Run
Hey all. Pulled into my garage and noticed a memo someone put under my wiper saying she hit my car while backing up and to call her. So I did and she told me her insurance co. would call me tomorrow and in the meantime i should get an estimate. I've never had to deal with something like this. What steps should I take? Should i have called the police for a report? although, i already left the site where it happened b/c i had no idea someone hit my car until i got home. Should i not contact my insurance (i don't think its necessary).
Also, does anyone know of a well reputable body repair shop in the Lawrenceville/Princeton area? I'd appreciate any input/advice. Thanks!

that's not a hit and run if she left her contact info ..anyway you can just call her insurance company yourself and explain what happened. that way you can confirm she even made a claim with her insurance company

If an exchange of details were made its not a hit in run (she left her details via a note on your windscreen). Calling the police for a car park hit is a waste of their time, and its unrealistic for the person to wait by your car for hours in the hope you return.
She's left her details, which should show her intentions are good. |

Rmk392, you're right in that its not a hit and run. I spoke to the person who hit my car and a claim has already been made. I'm getting estimates right now. Went to Branning in Princeton and now I'm at D&A Auto Body in Levittown. Going to stop by Rob's Auto Body in Hamilton. Anyone have experience with any of the three places?

Body by Mule' in Yardville off of Rte. 130. They always have high end and exotic cars outside. I took my 04 545i when it came time to pain/install my MTech Kit. Perfect paint work and install.

I'm thinking of going w/D & A Autobody and Collision in Levittown, PA. The at-fault insurance appraiser is going to take a look at my car this weekend b/c the estimate for the repair was above their threshold. I'll post some before/after pics after everything is completed. Thanks guys.

Some photos of the carnage (sorry for sideway images). It doesn't look so bad, but because two panels were damaged, one of which has to be replaced, the estimate ended up being what it was. Also, the body shop person said they have to blend the paint on the rear quarter panel and clear coat it.

Most people would probably not leave a note, especially when it happened close to midnight on a quiet road.
